The Infected ones are what's remain of the Station 69 crew. Once the H-Virus broke out, these once used to be - scientists and engineers, now are the infected ones. The virus effects bone tissue and structure of the body, greatly diminishing it due the lack of nutrition or opposite, expanding it if food sources are plenty to be found.
The virus effects long term memory, destroying all of the memories up to that day of infection, yet, keeping everything beyond.
Thus, being presented with this new reality, the infected ones formed their own hierarchy and society, driven, by the most basic needs, disfigured, as their own bodies and minds
