Once again, I'm left sitting here wondering how it's been a whole year since my last scene released to the VaM Hub. Sometime back in May, Halsey's Gasoline came up on one of my Spotify playlists, and I realized I'd kind of forgotten how much I used to love that song. And as usual, my scenes get started with songs that have strong images in my head, and this one was really doing it.
So I got to work. The song, for those who don't know it or haven't listened, is filled with interesting audio sounds. It's ethereal, it's dreamy, it's layered and complex. Listen with a good set of surround headphones and it's audio escapism at its best. An underrated audio experience, I think. In my head I pictured all of these different sounds being attached to different layers of lighting, how they would land on a moving body, and what sort of shadows they'd cast. By mid-June, I'd put a scene together that would form the basis of what I was trying to accomplish: a light show, attached to those sounds, making a moving female body look as surreal as possible. I shared what I was doing with my patreon fans, and got to work.
I had the audio, I had the base scene, I had even started animating, but I needed a look. There are SO many good looks out there. Predictably, but without hammering on it too hard, I knew I could probably find something by just poking around over on Juno or Damarmau's profile pages. The precedent is there: these two above most other content creators, make looks that just fucking speak to me. I seriously considered both Allegra and the remixed Kaia, and truly either would be at home here, and obviously for different reasons. But then I came across SuperSamoth's Marguerite in the VaMArchive, and I was cooked.
I have no idea how I missed this look back in the day, but I'm incredibly glad I found it. I obviously put my own spin on her, but I was in love with this look immediately.
The scene itself is pretty much my usual stuff: Single-position cowgirl, has a camride, orgasm animation, POV through Embody. No animation on the male atom as this is intended to be a VR experience, and I have to say... I love what's come of the lights here in the first-person perspective. Not to toot my own horn too much, but in VR or a dark room (desktop) with some good headphones or other audio, it's very easy to lose yourself a little bit when the light show really gets going. So let's talk about that.
Again, this is my usual fare: Girl-on-top, good tunes bumping in the background, animation to match the beat, and in this case the lights are doing some heavy lifting as well. I've done music-based light patterns in the past with scenes like Palm Sunday, but this is on another level. There are a dozen lights arranged around and above our couple, and they're grouped so that different sounds or specific beats come from the same lights or sets of lights. It truly makes for a wild pattern. Don't worry, these twelve lights are never all on at once (I'm not insane, you're insane!), in fact, I've ensured there are never more than four at a time, since they're all pixel lights.
The shadow patterns this setup creates gets WILD in spots. As I mentioned above, by mid-June, I had an inkling of what I wanted to do here and was actively working on it. By mid-July, I had animated the lights, which was really its own project, and had cranked out about a minute of the first pass of animation. The interesting effects of the lights alone had me DYING to get this scene complete. Queue ADHD, real-life time commitments, and the usual slowdowns and soon it was early September, and I was already working on a "side project" as I typically do when the animation burnout sets in. MAN am I excited to show you that next project... But let's stay on track here!
I really like this scene. I think the cam ride is only okay, mainly because first person is so much better. I think the animation could be a better in spots, but I'm really just proud of how the light animation turned out. In POV, it's more interesting to watch than pretty much anything else I've done. Your mileage may vary, but I've probably already watched the final product (and the many versions leading to it) more times than some of my other scenes combined.
When I begin to smoke test my scenes before release, walking through every button click, every animation, every shadow I care to control and every drop of cum and where it lands, I invariably spend extra hours fine-tuning everything before I make the photo shoot version of the scene and start taking pictures. This one was no different, but I have to say that I really enjoyed this photoshoot. The Marguerite look is just stunning to look at, and credit where credit is due: I think SuperSamoth may have created the hottest redhead on the hub. It doesn't seem like they have a profile anymore, so I'm glad this landed in the archive, but if they ever return I have the highest of fives planned for them. Anyway, download the scene. Instructions
Starting with the obvious: Epilepsy warning due to all the flashing lights! Otherwise, basic functionality here. Start button starts animation, another start button for cam ride, stop / reset stops animation and sets you back to the spawn point. Volume sliders to turn up/down all the things to your liking. A little icon to hide and show the menu (that gets automatically clicked when you click a start button or switch to POV.) I will say that there are a couple of spots of faster animation that may benefit from a lower physics update cap, just to keep up on slower machines. Also, unless you have a minimum of 60Hz monitor/VR refresh rate, this scene will likely look terrible. The lights are timed in a way that when things get crazy, if your screen(s) can't keep up, things get dicey and fast. My old Quest 2 headset needed some serious effort to make this scene look good, so hopefully you have better VR than I do!

Yeah, yeah, I know there's a whole credits section at the bottom, but I will always continue to give credit where credit is due. AcidBubbles and hazmhox always have three or more plugins in my scenes, and there just isn't making these scenes without them. But the foggy lights are driven by PluginIdea's HPVL, and it seems like I have to mention how it just couldn't possibly look this good without it. Outside of some dependencies, The rest of the plugins are mainly for physics and making the person atoms look good. BooMoon, ddamm, everlaster, kemenate, MacGruber, oomphy, paledriver, Register, Riddler, Skynet, tolberg, and VamTimbo all have a piece of making SuperSamoth's Marguerite look fantastic. This is also my first try at using Foost's SexyFluids, and I have to say, I ended up having to do a lot less work on cum animation and timing because of it. Great plugin!
I do have to give an additional special thanks to hazmhox for helping me out with one of the last bits of work I had to do. As you'll see, this scene is using the immeasurably valuable plugin VAMStory, which as a rube, I am only using for menus. When I ran into a problem I couldn't think my way through, hazmhox responded quickly with the perfect suggestion for my unique problem, and probably saved me hours of trial and error. I appreciate you so much!
