CORNER STREET
A crowded corner street, deep in the middle of a city

⚠️ This is only an environment
The model, morphs, hair, clothing items, and dance motion shown are not included. They are only used for demonstration purposes. Credits to everything included in the scene are referenced below.
ℹ️ Note
All of the background and ambient sound effects are provided by Pixabay, free for use under their Content License.

What It Is
An MMD-ready, feature-rich stage that utilizes light beams and audio-reactive elements. Great for playing MMDs with your preferred MMD plugin. All media features my lovely Elena that you can find here on the hub.

MMD Motion Trace — Dirty Work by Natsumi-San

Another city-themed setup inspired by something like Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. I wanted to invoke a feeling of an immersive late-night gathering. Your diva can perform here for a small crowd at the finish line of her street race (that she came first in, obviously). The UI for toggling various items on/off in the scene appears when the main UI is open (U-key).

I spent some extra time adding to the environment to make things more immersive over the course of a few weeks—Flickering street lamps, a waving flag with wind effects, particle dust, foggy light beams, glowing windows, and a realistic audio option that makes it sound more like a street performance than a music video. I tried something new and included a camcorder POV to take more casual videos, which has a fun effect. This scene is intended to be used in conjunction with your favorite MMD player plugin and motions, and will react to audio on the lower frequencies, adjusting lights in real-time. Audio reactivity is a little more subtle this time around, since I wanted a more realistic scene.

This is actually a mash of three different city assets and a lot of different props, making it a very busy scene. So, if your PC struggles to run it, I've included some toggles to hide various items. The two most expensive assets for FPS are the crowd and the flashing lights. If you're looking to recover the most frames, start by disabling those. If you're savvy and want to adjust some of the lighting and skybox to place it in the daytime, the distant horizon should show up well.

The trailer above was taken at 60FPS that was NOT rendered to give an idea of the performance you can expect with everything enabled. I tried to keep VAM performance in the range of 30-50 FPS without sacrificing too many details.

Recommendations
These are a couple of things that I typically like to use to enjoy MMD-style scenes.

Tips
  • An MMD player plugin is not included with the scene—see the recommendations above for a free option.
  • The scene has been set up for depth of field and motion blur effects. These can be toggled via the UI button or via Scene Plugins in edit mode.
  • This scene includes flashing lights that can be disabled via toggle.
  • I've included a custom checkered flag texture for the flag in the background. Download from the gallery and place in the \Custom\Images\Zero Lambda\Corner Street\ directory.
  • To use the more realistic audio option that sounds like a sound system on the street, set your MMD player's audio output through the Speaker atom.
  • Custom light rig—good for photos too, not just dances.
