MacGruber updated MacGruber Essentials with a new update entry:

Version 12

This update contains various fixes for PowerHandles, SkyMagic and SuperShot.

Changelog
  • PowerHandles: Fixed issue when releasing modifier key (CTRL or ALT) before releasing the mouse button. Thanks to @ZRSX and @babul for hints on how to reproduce the issue, so I could finally hunt it down.
  • PowerHandles: Fixed issue with handle position/orientation not being updated when the same is...

Thanks for the update. I love PowerHandles now, it doesn't glitch out anymore. Also global position modifier is super useful for posing, great stuff!

Hi! I think I found an issue with PowerHandles, it's been there in version 12 too but I didn't have time to verify that PowerHandles was in cause. The Select Root button at the top-left of the control window actually closes the window.

I'm not sure of the exact reason but it happens all the time, and since it's really core to my workflow (in Timeline, select a node, move it, go back to the Timeline view using Select Root, etc.) it's annoying :)

I think this is how you can reproduce it:

1. Select a Person atom
2. Select a hand (for example)
3. Move the hand using the controls (e.g. ctrl+up arrow)
4. Click Select Root
5. The window closes; not that if you re-open it with Show Selected UI, the window is still on the control, pressing Select Root again will work ?

Thanks, I was able to repro this also with v13. Think I got a potential fix, too. Found yet another issue, though, so it may be a while.
Since PowerHandles is basically one huge hack, pulling strings inside VaM to make it do stuff its not supposed to, so its a bit unstable

Version 14

More bugfixes for PowerHandles, hopefully not introducing new issues. This plugin is a bit delicate as its pulling strings inside VaM to make it do crazy things VaM was never intended for. I hope I got it right this time.

Thanks for this awesome set of plugins! Just a couple of questions:

  1. Do you know of a way to use the downsampling from SuperShot while also applying Reshade post effects?
  2. It seems that PostMagic's DoF plugin somehow makes the depth buffer available to Reshade (5.0.2) even when VaM's MSAA is turned on. If I load a scene with MSAA turned on, Reshade's DisplayDepth shows nothing, but if I add PostMagic and activate the Depth of Field plugin, it works, even after I deactivate the plugin or load a new scene. Do you know why this is or how I might be able to get the depth buffer available to Reshade permanently?

My plugins are not compatible with Reshade. If it works, its more or less luck. You can't have multiple things that all mess with the render pipeline, that's never gonna work reliably. You might want to try the MSAAToggle plugin, though. Its supposed to help with Reshade issues somehow. It was done at specific request, never actually tried it myself.

Thanks for the explanation. Very weird.

I think my current solution is going to be to turn off VaM's MSAA and use SuperVideo's downsampling + MSAA to get decent screenshots with Reshade via the WindowCamera. Made a simple plugin to help with WindowCamera alignment to make it easier: https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/windowcamaligner.15123/

Thanks for the all these plugins! I stupidly hadn't realised that you had already done a Frame rate cap plugin when I posted my own ?

Love the pause when in background feature, but did notice something interesting - I have set the plugin to auto start as a session plugin and in this mode it paused the loading up of VAM as well, was wondering if it's possible to use OnSceneLoaded() to enable the pause feature once VAM is loaded up?

Also, would it be possible to add 120 & 144 frame cap as well?

Cheers!

Which version works with wam 1.9?
Uh, that is a version from Summer 2018? That's like dark ages, plugins wheren't even supported at that time. Possibly you mean 1.19 but even that is 2.5 years old. The current 1.20 branch released in August 2020. You can't expect such old versions to still be supported, in general plugin devs will always switch to the newest version with days or weeks of a release. Please update to the current version: VaM 1.20.77.9 from Feburary 2021.

Hi! Gizmos work really great but some controller nodes icons (specifically the limbs) on display disappears when I load the plugin (?) Any setting I missed?

Not entirely sure what you mean, but I assume you talk about PowerHandles.

Things to check:
  1. While in VR, at least on Oculus, you need to touch (not press!) controller buttons (A,B, X or Y) for icons to be visible. This is a VaM thing, PowerHandles doesn't change that.
  2. Potentially atoms can be set to hidden or not interactable in a number of ways. This is a VaM thing, PowerHandles doesn't change that.
  3. If you don't mean icons, but interaction handles (= arrows) in desktop mode....PowerHandles hides them unless you press+hold CTRL and/or ALT. This is kind of the core feature and whole point of PowerHandles, as it prevents accidental movement. See video below.
  4. With PowerHandles you can scale the icons, make them smaller. Potentially you just made them super small? There is a slider in the plugins settings. Default should be normal size, though.

Thank you very much for the work.
Supershot is very useful and has become my must-have plug-in. However, there is a problem in usage, right now its screenshots don't retain the effects of reshade, it is possible to achieve this in the future?

MacGruber does not work anymore on VaM (at least for now).
Reshade is injected on top of the game... since supershot grabs the rendered image from the game engine, there is no way to grab the resulting reshade image.
Swap to an external screenshot system if you want to capture "what you see".

I have question for sky magic. I read instruction and im not sure how to do steps in unity. I have imported texture , plugin, set shown in left picture properties but ther is: " Create a prefab containing a ReflectionProbe, with above cubemap already linked "
How to create object in unity that contain that reflection probe? should it be a Sphere or what ? I know how to make prefabs but i always create it for some "meshed" entity so how to create one just with reflection probe :) ?

@rabbit1qaz SkyMagic can be used for different things. Are you talking about:
  1. Cube-Screenshots made inside your VaM scene using "SkyMagic Exporter"? In that case use "SkyMagic Importer" (a Unity plugin!) which will properly import that image and create the prefab with ReflectionProbe and all the correct settings for you! (the tutorial just says what these settings are so you can do them by hand, if you want to)
  2. You talk about some custom sky you downloaded somewhere?

Hi Mac! I have a little issue with Supershot: I set the resolution to 1920x1080, multiplier to 2x, save format JPEG. I take a screenshot with preview using the buttons in the plugin's ui but... the screens are grabbed at 1920x1080. I've done this in VR many times with same result.

Am'i doing something wrong?

I set the resolution to 1920x1080......the screens are grabbed at 1920x1080
You set the resolution to 1920x1080 and get a 1920x1080? Coincidence, no? :ROFLMAO:
The resolution is the output resolution you want to have for the screenshot. The multiplier is applied internally. So, at 2x it does internally do a 4K shot, but downscales it to 1920x1080 for you. The benefit is that you don't need to downscale yourself and also the screenshot is MUCH faster...because when taking a screenshot you are mainly just waiting for the file to be saved. JPG/PNG aren't particulary fast at high resolutions.

If you want max quality, take the 8K shot and save as PNG. Then downscale yourself with Photoshop (or whatever). However, most likely you won't be able to tell which one is which.

Well i thought that the resolution was intended as the START resolution. Now, everything is clear... thanks! :ROFLMAO:

MacGruber updated MacGruber Essentials with a new update entry:

Version 16

Changelog
  • AudioReverb: Adds an Reverb filter effect to the audio source you place the plugin on. It's applied to all audio sources in your scene, if placed on a non-AudioSource atom. A reverb effect fakes how sound is reflected and/or absorbed by the room around you. The plugin comes with a list of various presets like Livingroom, Concerthall, Cave, Forest, etc. You can use them as a starting point to tweak further.
    The main difference to...
