Add embody/passenger plugin to the camera and record while that is activated? Depends on what you are using to record too I guess.
Thanks for your response!
I'm using OBS to record VaM, timeline to animate the WindowCamera, and press M to watch it. But I'd use just about any method if it meant I could either track an object using the MAIN camera(so PP effects are visible), or some other trick, I just don't know any!
Maybe a plugin which modified the main camera rotate function to rotate-in-place instead of rotate around a distant focal point, and to make it SUPER SMOOTH... Because a little trick I learned was that you can zoom in with the mouse wheel A BUNCH OF TIMES, and the focal point will essentially become the camera origin, so you can ALMOST rotate the camera without moving it, but it's REALLY JITTERY, maybe because of the SLIGHT difference between focal point and origin? Some weird renderer problem? I even tried changing my mouse DPI to 100, so I could smooth my movement out as much as possible... no joy...
I'm currently trying possess, and working with embody to see if any of the options work, but so far... Possession doesn't seem to allow animations to apply to atoms while the player is possessing them, it doesn't seem to allow tracking atom movement AT ALL, even a falling object from gravity, when possessed, will not "possession track" the object's descent, it's just glued to viewing the position you started possessing at. Not passenger, not using an empty, not on another person atom's head, not when I use an eye tracker and/or parent the head to the eyes....
Edit(To clarify): I can SEE the eyes and head moving if I offset the camera in the settings, so it's not that the atoms don't move, it's just that the the possession doesn't.... stick....?
Other things tried:
- Baking the POV subject's animations into the scene (so it works with the pause/play/restart buttons), no good
-
https://hub.virtamate.com/threads/move-a-person-with-timeline-while-in-possession-mode.27802/ The whole embody+timeline same atom record animation thing Matt_ tried explaining(in the link above), doesn't work at all, and tbh doesn't even seem to make any sense at all, that whole thread is odd AF
EDIT: Figured it out! (and cleaned the post for brevity)
The "passenger settings" part of the Embody plugin has two checkboxes which say "lock camera position/rotation". Naturally, I unchecked them, because I don't want the camera's position and rotation to be locked! However, if you want the camera to move while in embody, you actually, quite counterintuitively, need to have them checked!
