What Quest 3 can do for VAM VR

Hey @keycode you said you also have a Reverb G2? How does the Quest 3 image quality compare to it? I have a G2 and am thinking of selling it, then putting the money towards a Q3.
same quality: for vam a quest 3 it is more than enough. A good ethernet link to a wifi 6 router is what you need and if you play sitting a good 3-5 meters long usb 3 for keeping the quest battery full charged when playing through "virtual desktop" (the fucking semi-"optional" virtuous application) . ... but If you do sell the reverb just for the passthrough... then I would wait what they will fart from china bazar with the proximal pico 5 (pico headset seems having a much much better comfort when you put it on your face: the quest mask is a real horror even if if you must not wear glasses like me... the zukkini project is indeed valid just for his standard dick-head shape)

Well, that is highly subjective. What is the likelihood an average man can have a super gorgeous girlfriend who has a supermodel body, be available on demand, and does not cost money?

You could be right for now but if mix VR gets more sophisticated and evolves further in the future, nothing is certain.

The above is especially true if VR integrates with fast-evolving AI technology such as ChatGPT AI.
I see some VAM plugins such as "Alive" already use ChatGPT AI. wow! So do not be surprised if next time you
go inside the scene, the girl remembers your name and your favorite things and can talk with you just like a real person.

Just tested couple days with quest 3 and its meh at best. Battery life sucks even with it being wired. When fully charged, I have about 2 hour-ish and quest link software side isn't all that great either. No hand tracking and couldn't change the environment or turn off the background sound. Hand tracking works in the wireless version but quality and speed suffer depending if you have a good wifi. My main purpose was to use pcvr and access everything through vr with my computer. It would be nice to have a plugin for hand tracking, instead of using the controller. Imagine hand tracking ur looks, be pretty nice.

VoxtaAI already does that (because LLMs are capable of this) and can, to a certain amount, even remember where your conversation has stopped last time and picks it up again, of course telling you by name ;)
Plus you can configure as much characters and their background as you want, i.e. one being just smart and the other one being always horny...

I am using a very light cheap usb-c 3mt (long) cable connected to the quest 3 original charger (not using a third part device "super fast" [??] that was in bundle with that standard cable, a lot more powerful, because practically there is no difference).
My quest 3 headset never goes under 90% charge, the more I play (VAM through VirtualDesktop) the more the charge grows till around 97/98% or even to 100% if I close VD and vam... to look a normal video for instance, when the snapdragon and the headset gpu is less stressed. This cable is detected with issue alert by oculus runtime as USB 2 connection ?, but the funny is that it works normally not only by charging on positive grow, with VD, but also like an "original" wired quest-link for the oculus data streaming. With that wired stream function the battery charging is of course not so efficient and so it drains, slowly but it drains.

ps: ??

but If you do sell the reverb just for the passthrough

@keycode actually I'm not super interested in pass-through, I'm mainly just interested in the absolute best image quality, not just for VaM but for watching adult videos. Sounds like the Reverb G2 is about the same as the Q3?

watching movies or generically simply watching what you need to watch it is (much) better with quest 3. After this last short period ... finally I was giving away the reverb. I regret only the wearing comfort (of the reverb). I don't like facesuck, I don't like zukkiniberg, but the quest 3 rocks!

ps: fapping with passthroughing even the most banal silly vam scene is better than fapping watching 3d (???) shit porn videos. I am sure meshed-san was sperimenting too.

Quest 3 is still clearer because of the lenses, Reverb old fresnel lenses add alot of blur.

it seems also that we can stop OVR service (so, not only steamVR, but even the online oculus-facesuck spyware too) when playing vam through VirtualDesktop... and a quest toy. Later today I will test if it is true what they told me in VD discord... it seems realistic to me, because the VD headset network tasks they are not involving oculus store crapware.

That is very interesting. Please let us know about your findings.

well... it works. It can be "useful" (as you can see) to have a relatively clean internet active tasks list
edited: (verified a relatively better VD version 1.29.9 streaming when playing vam).

for @capta134 : I do not remember where I found those bat files (reddit or vamhub maybe) . I think I was using them to secure shut my rift-s when I was not using it. You must execute them with admin priviledge otherwise they don't work ... and of course you must change that .txt file format to .bat.

So if you stop OVR proccess, can you still play VAM using virtual desktop "In VR" mode?

yes, without negative consequences... we loose nothing, besides some facesuck zukkiniberg spyware. And don't forget Saint66 bat file shared in here: for cleaning away steamVR crapware the best solution. All we can do (mostly just) to save us from invasive criminal shitware pollution.

Thanks for sharing. For those viewers who are less technical, the bat files startOVR.txt and stopOVR.txt use an internal Windows "net" command to stop and start the Oculus Runtime Service.

These bat files are 100% safe and harmless.

However, this is what Meta claims: "The Oculus Runtime Service powers your headset. Disabling this service will prevent Oculus from running on your computer".

I did disable this service and the only effect was not being able to use Oculus Link.( which is not important at all since VD works much better). I could run VAM VR with no issues.

I think Keycode's finding is very important since it prevents Meta from monitoring users activities on their PCs (if that's true).

forgot to notice: it seems that the fuxxxg OVR service has to bypass the ovrSTOP batch command at each time when we restart windows (probably because being per default ON in the auto-start register key list). I am sure it is/should be easy to solve this question simply placing that "stopOVR" batch command in an automatic "later" execute mode or better... maybe permanently disabling oculus VR runtime service in our system manager list (just for vam playing and quest headsets using VirtualDesktop).

Good ideas. Still some people with slow internet have no choice but to use Oculus link. They need to keep OVR alive to be able to play PC VR.

there, ok! ...of course we can speak about (local) networking... or about the funny shit paradox: the zukkiniberg miracle, most famous vr product, that on the (toilet) paper it_is/should be 100% noob-proof, easy and ready just for a limited "wireless" fuck and play job with stored hot games for idiot childs, it sucks when/if at least you can't anally blow pc porn-data through ethernet LAN cable to a fucking wireless 6 router ???... primary routing preferably placed in the same room in wich we fart/fap. ?

Well at least we now know their claim of " The Oculus Runtime Service powers your headset. Disabling this service will prevent Oculus from running on your computer" is NOT True or at least we do not need to have Oculus run in our computers for PC VR interaction with Quest 3.

You may consider making a VAM Guide for your findings. I personally find it worthwhile,

The clarity of the person in your video is impressive! Did you use Sally's plugin to change the background color?
Yes i used that plugin. But I dont just match the chroma numbers to the virtual desktop chroma key. Instead, i manually move the little box around in the sally plugin color picker box until i see the least outline around the person. Gives much better result than just matching numbers.

I've looked everywhere. Somewhere a plugin was mentioned in connection with the passthrough that was called “no render” or something similar. I don't think anything was rendered other than the look. I can't find this plugin anywhere and I can't find the thread again. Can someone help me?

Are you referring to: Sally?CameraBackgroundcolor.4?
