Hi everyone,
I've built **VAM for Mac Launcher** to make it easier to run Virt-A-Mate in VR on an Apple Silicon Mac with a Meta Quest 3.
VaM runs on your Mac through a Windows compatibility environment, and the launcher connects it to your Quest 3 using ALVR. You don't need a separate Windows PC.
**What it does:**
- Guided setup that downloads and configures the required Mac components and opens the official VaM updater to install the game.
- Import an existing VaM installation, including your scenes, add-ons and settings.
- Connect Quest 3 over **Wi-Fi or USB**.
- Head tracking, controller input and game audio in VR.
- Hand tracking without controllers when enabled on Quest 3 and in ALVR. Controllers remain useful for buttons, thumbsticks and camera controls; individual finger tracking and every gesture aren't promised.
- Five resolution presets, from Performance to Ultra, so you can adjust image quality for your Mac and scene.
- Automatic reconnection after taking the headset off and putting it back on, without closing your scene.
- Update VaM through its official updater, with one previous installation kept as a backup.
Once setup is complete, open ALVR on your Quest, then click **Start VR** in the launcher. Installed components are remembered between launches.
**Requirements:** Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15 or later, and Meta Quest 3. Performance depends on your Mac, scene complexity, graphics settings and connection. USB setup requires Quest developer mode and USB debugging permission. The Mac app is not Apple-notarized; the website includes first-launch instructions.
There is a **72-hour free trial**, starting after the first successful VR launch.

I'd love to hear how it works with your Mac and your favorite scenes. If you try it, please share your Mac model, chosen resolution and whether you're using USB or Wi-Fi.
