hi, i already have hand tracking via leap motion and virtualhere and pico , i don't have a quest, but a quest 3 question concerning IOBT FBT, are the estimation trackers working for hips and legs inside vam ? i am trying to figure out why standables plugin trackers are not gettign detected inside VAM.. also i am sorry to ask here but you seem a very knowlegeable person regarding tracking features in general..

Thanks, if you mean the Quest 3 built in IOBT, it's not very accurate, but yes they do show up in VAM as Vive trackers. I don't recommend it though it's highly inaccurate, but it does show up

I think I might have figured something out



I managed to reproduce this Grabbing issue, the only time it happens is when I have a hand "hidden" or "Enabled is off"
Try enabling all of them, restart everything and see. After everything was enabled, I no longer accidentally grabbed things

Also this is while using my VamX SteamVR profile, and of course having good lighting and clean lenses

Doesn't seem to make a difference for me, I have a feeling it might use gestures or something as input (I'm using a Q3 with VD btw), even when I disable all navigation in the user preferences it still makes no difference, I have enabled and disabled everything in both the "VR Hands" and in the "Leap motion" section, thinking maybe it was emulating a leap motion (though I think it should emulate vive trackers) or something but that didn't make a difference either.
The strange thing is that even if the character is locked into position I will still accidentally grab the character and move them during play mode, which I didn't think would be possible unless you'd be in edit mode

works great but my VAM keeps crashing to steam home whenever i press the system button, is there any fix for this? i am using VD method

Disable the VR-mod app, Foveated Plugin, or VR perf toolkit, test it to see if it still crashes

hello. first time user. works amazing and it's totally awesome. thank you... i do have a question.. when i switched into POV mode in some scenes, my hands disappear (but I can still see the meta logo and menu when I flip my hands palms up). when i switch out of pov, the hands return. do you happen to know why?

What scenes? Some scenes will disable hands, it's a setting or a plugin that hides your hands

In Virtual desktop settings> Streaming > Passthrough > Hands

What scenes? Some scenes will disable hands, it's a setting or a plugin that hides your hands

just some scenes where there is a toggle in the UI that says "POV" in a checkbox then it goes into the POV a male model but i cannot see hands. i can only see hands in 3rd person view/no clip sort of way. but ur probably right.. might be a setting or something

Do I understand correctly that I cannot use "finger motion" without starting STEAM.
I did everything according to the manual. I can see my hands but I can’t bend my fingers one by one in VAM

What do you mean by finger motion? If you mean hand tracking, it only works with SteamVR, and here it doesn't use SteamVR

i mean controls like "Hold" "Grabbing" "Open Menu" etc. I can move my hands, touch persons, but i can't pinch my Index Finger and Thumb together when i use VAM over VD with bat. file ("Streamer.exe" "F:/Vam/VaM.exe")

Like I said, it will NOT work WITHOUT SteamVR. This bat REMOVES SteamVR. So you choose which you want, hand tracking or no SteamVR

Ah flark yeah that gif seems to be broken. But it's literally just the same image above it in gif format, I'm sure people can figure it out it's not that hard

Hence why I assumed the "No more accidental grabbing" applied to VD also, the issue is that Steamlink has never worked well for me, as opposed to VD, by that I mean that visually the difference is huge, Steamlink has a lot of artifacting for me for some reason, whereas VD doesn't, plus with VD there's the snapdragon upscaling..
Do you also know what the cause of the accidental grabbing is then? As I assumed both methods just used Steamvr inputs

It also works with Virtual Desktop in the latest update, but I have not made any input profiles there yet. I am waiting for Virtual Desktop to sync with SteamLink's profiles. If you want you can do your own profile on it

Yes the grabbing is because the default inputs have trigger set on index and grab pinch which is way too sensitive on default

Install and set up the latest Beta of Steam Link and SteamVR (ver 2.9.4) on Headset (Quest 2) and PC, Opting into SteamVR Beta, Opting into Quest Beta. Open Vam in VR mode and setting User Preferences like your guide. Then switch to Hand trackers.
But in "Change Binding for vam", I can not see your "Vam Hand Tracking 2.0" binding option. (I set the Current Controller as "Hand Tracking"). I just have 2 option to choose, are the default binding for oculus, and default binding index. When use those setting, I can touch and grab things, but cannot select, click things or move. So did I do something wrong? Can you help me how to fix this problem so i can use your Binding option? Thankyou.

For some reason, steam VR is freaking unstable and I just can't run it normally to launch VAM - it constantly crashing. I have Quest 3. Thanks

You can't, you need SteamVR for this sorry. You can look into ways to making it run smoother with SteamVR on the internet
