BrowserAssist (Free)

Plugins BrowserAssist (Free)

Hi JayJayWon, is there a way to rename a tag? I couldn't find it in my free version.
So currently the only way is to use Mult select to select all resources with that Tag. Create a new Tag and assign it to all selected resources. Remove the old tag. The old tag will be deleted the next time BrowserAssist restarts.

I do intend to add more granular control of Tags via the PluginUI at some point - including renaming and purging unused tags.

It shouldn't but it's at least 2+ minutes longer to load set as a session plugin and I have top tier Samsung nve ssd, 65gb ram and a 3090ti, amd 39050x cpu. I cant be the only one experiencing this performance issue.
It depends how many VAR files and local files you have under Custom and Saves folder. I have about 3400 VARs and roughly the same number of local files. It loads in less than 15 seconds for me. I've got a high spec machine with nvme - but yours looks pretty kick ass too.

I'd be interested in doing some diagnostics to understand why it's taking so long on your machine. As you say, if it's slow for you its likely to be for other too.

Renaming tags would be awesome! Like others have already said, this is a gamechanger plugin (y)

Thanks a lot, this is a big improvement over the vanilla.

I don't know if it's already possible but there a way to distinguish in the list which scenes are missing dependencies and which ones are complete and ready to run?

I'm always having headache trying to fix these missing files and at the end don't even know if it's for scenes I want to run or not.

It isnt currently possible to do that, but it might be something I could do in the future.

This plugin seems to cause the framerate to drop, especially in vr mode. Of course the function is very convenient

Hmm, I've not noticed that. Can you tell me what exact version you are using e.g. the VAR name and number. Also what hardware do you have and what is the fps dropping from and to.
Are you sure its my plugin and not something else? Simply clicking enable on and off on the plugin and checking frame rates should confirm if its my plugin or not - but presumably you've already done that?

Would be amazing, as a new user an easy way to fix missing files only on scenes I want to run would be my top loved feature.

Thx for reply

Deleting my own local scenes I can already do from the native gui so I'm fine. Deleting the var file (that I just downloaded) is exactly what I will need to do in explorer so I dont see why it would be more problematic in a plugin.. a var that has to go has to go no matter the tool used or the dependencies. Why not hide? I constantly download looks and scenes from patreon or the hub in search of gems or ideas and I want to remove the crap (not hide it). save disk space. reduce number of files. remove var that looks like child porn.... at this point I'd be happy with a look/scene browser plugin with 2 buttons (exit and delete VAR). ;)
That's now available in v1.4: https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/browserassist.19622/

JayJayWon updated BrowserAssist (Free) with a new update entry:

BrowserAssist v1.4 Update

  • Delete local resource files (subject to enabling sym-links using the CreateBASymLinks.bat)
  • Delete VAR packages - requires to rerun 'CreateBASymLinks.bat' from Saves\PluginData\JayJayWon\BrowserAssist after running the new BrowserAssist VAR in VAM to allow access to AddonPackages folder.
  • New Target Atom option to create new Person Atoms at the same time as loading a person preset.
  • New tab to allow positioning of new and existing atoms. Positioning can be in absolute world...

Thanks for the updating and great work! I had the version 9 and it updated without problem to the last version. After the update I saw your instructions about deleting the local resource filers and VAR packages. I haven't done that but your plugin works alright. Is it necessary to delete those files?

Do you mean with the var files , the old plugin var? (In my case JayJayWon.BrowserAssist(Free).9,var) Which other var file do we need the delete?
And do you mean with the resource files the location : ...Vam\Saves\PluginData\JayJayWon\BrowserAssist ? There are along with the old files, modified files too which was updated by the new version. Do I need to delete them all?

Ha, sorry. Those aren't meant to be instructions. They are a list of new features that the plugin can now do. I've hopefully made it a bit clearer now, but essentially there are new options to be able to delete files and VARs directly from the BrowserAssist UI.
@cmramlow - apologies, somehow I responded to the wrong message there! Must have been studying your system specs too hard!
@Pentheus - above response was aimed at you.

JayJayWon updated BrowserAssist (Free) with a new update entry:

BrowserAssist v1.15.1 Update

New Features:
  • Browser Assist UI is more tightly embedded to the VAM UI (this can be disabled in the Plugin Settings UI). As well as being launched from the VAM UI, Browser Assist now moves with the VAM UI and appears and disappears as different VAM UI windows are selected.
  • Improved plugin load speeds. A complete rework of the plugin data structure and startup sequence has been implemented to reduce the plugin startup speed. In some cases this may be 5 times quicker than...

Hi @JayJayWon , I'm having some issues with the batch to enable favorites. I had it working in my old PC but I've built a new one and just copied my entire VaM folder to a new hard drive and now I can't get it to work. I already tried the Remove batch and tried to delete BASettings.cfg and SymLinks folder but no matter how many times I run the Create batch it's still greyed out ingame. Any idea how to fix this ?

Did you restart BrowserAssist after running the bat file? What format of file system are you using - it needs to be NTFS and not FAT?

Yes I've restarted the plugin and even the game. My main drive is still NTFS, the only thing that changed is that before I was using Windows 10 and now I'm using Windows 11. Even the path of the VaM folder is still the same (C:/Games/VaM) and I am running the bat as administrator.

So you say you "tried" to delete the SymLinks folder - did you succeed?

I can delete it just fine but running the bat doesn't create it again. If that's what is supposed to happen I don't know why it doesn't :(
Can you try running it for in a cmd prompt window, so you can see any error messages generated.

Also, are you running it as an Administrator user?

I figured it out. For some reason right-clicking the bat and choosing to run as administrator does not actually run it as administrator. Launching cmd.exe as administrator and then running the bat from there worked and it fixed the favorites being greyed out.

No idea why this happens but it must be a Win11 thing, didn't have this problem when I was using Win10.
