Very confused on how to play scenes

When I download a scene I get a .var and that's it.

Instructions with one of them say to put that in your AddonPackages folder and then run the .json
Where is the .json?

Edit: Nevermind. My cheap-a** was trying to do this for free. Once I got a Patreon key, the scenes showed up.
