Thtat's a good idea! I'll record a video as soon as I have some spare time.I think would be nice a video showing how it works, and comparing times with/without this.
Also, I'm using VAM with VirtualDesktop but without steam (I have a special .bat to open without steam) is that compatible with VaMThin?
The dependencies listed inside the files you select should be included automatially always. Even if you select "None" in the "Saved Appearance Presets". Please email me an example file where this happens and I'll be happy to debug it for you.Thank you for this, I'm facing a frustrating issue though, for some reason loading the game via presets does NOT load scene/look dependencies for some reason. most of the scenes are missing assets, hair, etc.
Any tips to resolve this? thank you
I'll definitely look into it! When the core features are all implemented and stable I'll look into extending integration with those plugin! Thanks for the suggestion!Love this plugin, it’s really improved load times in my far to large (600 gigs) vam install folder!
I wanted to make a suggestion for further development. I regularly use UI assist and UI browser to sort and choose looks, scenes, hair and clothing.
Is there some way to integrate Vam-thin with JJwons tools? Here is the use case. I load vamthin, it then allows me to browse the thumbnails used in uiassist/browser assist to choose what scenes I want/looks ect, then creates the virtual link to vam folders to just load those assets? This would greatly speed load times, yet still allow me to easily browse assets I want to include without organizing them in Specific folders, or always updating vam thin with new profiles for new assets. Thanks for considering this suggestion!
I'm actively working on it! Last weekend the compatibility of the new builds seems fixed, today I'm making a new testbuild for beta testers. The new official release (12.0.0) will be out in just a few days, as soon as all beta testers confirm everything works well. Are you coming back to developing this more soon? Crossing my fingers that you work on it more.
Your original "big" installation files are never modified. The files are symlinks so the Thin preset folders use very little space (Windows doesn't show the difference between regular files and symlinks very clearly in the file explorer, so they may look like normal files, but in reality they are symbolic links to the files in your original installation)Amazing. Is it possible to add a copy-only feature so that what is brought in from the big install is copied instead of moved?
Actually, could it be an option that we don't need a 2nd VAM install. Just a repo?
Can that work with networked mapped drives? My repo is on my LAN, and map a windows drive letter to the network location.Your original "big" installation files are never modified. It should work for network drives (although the read speed across the network, and the latency, will of course surely be slower than a physical drive connected to your PC). What is most important is that the drive format is NTFS, to ensure that it supports symlinks. Message me if you want to experiment with it and I can give you more detailed instructions. Can that work with networked mapped drives? I sent you a DM but have not received a reply. Looking forward to test the cross network symlinks for 12x.
