I'm about to buy Oculus Quest 2 just for this game, and i'm thinking, isn't my laptop too weak to play this game?

As in the title i have:
Lenovo Legion 5 15ITH6H 15,6" 165Hz Intel Core i5-11400H - 16GB RAM - RTX3060 mobile (130W)

Will i be able to play comfortable enough? i also heard about that virtual desktop thing that might give me better performance.
Anyone have that GPU and played VAM ? help me out here.

That sounds fine to run VaM. The GPU is fine (I use a 3060) but there is NEVER enough CPU for VaM.
Even the people with high end CPUs will tell you they get issues. It will however run it fine. You might need to turn down some settings, I recommend getting "GiveMeFPS" plugin setup asap.
And yes, use Virtual Desktop. It's what I use and gives me the best experience without a cable (or with one!).
If you don't want to buy that right away try ALVR and Airlink and see how you get on, I mean they are both free anyway so it can't hurt.

Please let me jump in for this topic.
Currently I'm using Oculus Quest2 with OculusLink with physical cable, connected to my PC and running steamVR, but you mean switch to Virtual Desktop (WiFi) and it might reduce performance issue?

I actually had better performance over wifi with Virtual Desktop than I had with a physical link cable.
This of course, was only on my system and does not mean you WILL get better/worse/same on your system.
It's worth trying Airlink and ALVR (both free) to see how your performance works with those.
I found SteamVR was not the best way to run VaM. When I switched to launching directly from inside Virtual Desktop which doesn't run SteamVR things got smoother.

Thank you for your info.
Sorry for noob question, but if we have Virtual Desktop then I don't need to run SteamVR for VaM? Any additional configuration needed on VaM side to achieve that?

This method uses the Oculus API so the Oculus software needs to be installed, but SteamVR is not needed at all.
There is a batch file in other threads I have posted to which shows how to run VaM for Virtual Desktop. The important part is running that batch file from within Virtual Desktop while being in VR already, it will then automatically take you into VaM in VR when it loads.

The batch file needs only one line but make sure it IS on one line, no linebreaks etc.

"C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\VirtualDesktop.Streamer.exe" "C:\YOURPATHTOVAM\VaM.exe"

Include the quotes and edit the path on the right hand side to match yours. Save that file and make sure it's filename ends .bat
Then double click that from inside Virtual Desktop.

Hi Jiraiya, I saw you recommended this elsewhere. Does this do the same thing as right clicking the virtual desktop icon and finding VAM or does this automate that process?

It's the most reliable way to correctly launch VaM in the "right" mode for Virtual Desktop. The main goal is to avoid getting SteamVR involved.
I find having a shortcut icon to that .bat on the desktop easier and quicker to launch.

i tried doing the .bat file thing exactly, i put my path etc but whenever i double click the .bat file in VD the bat file flashes for a split second like its trying to open but then closes and doesnt actually launch vam at all or do anything, any idea whats causing it to do that? Not sure if the path is wrong or if im missing something, i dont see the file "\virtual desktop streamer\" under "c:\program files\" idunno why, i see "\virtual desktop\" though, i do have virtual desktop installed currently and everything required i believe not sure if im missing something
