My main reason for getting this was to do miscellaneous animations and just exercise the creative part of my brain. After playing with things and learning the hows and whats, I ended up using this to create a ghost bride that was installed at a Halloween event. The effect was basically an amped up version of the projector halloween decorations that are out there. I projected my ghost bride onto some different layered sheer fabrics and with forced perspective and using real props for set dressing and a little lighting, I had a very realistic looking ghost bride floating down a flight of stairs and singing to people.

Other than personal adult entertainment, has anyone else used this to create animations for projects? I feel like there is a massive amount of potential this program and community have that hasn't been tapped into yet. I've seen better art and models and creativity in this community than I have in MANY places, both indy and mainstream.

Welcome to VAM. I agree the art aspect of VAM is tremendous, and there is actually some pretty interesting scenes not particularly related to the adult aspect of VAM. Some of my favorites are museums, and and really cool assets, like animals, but many more. There are a few people that have posted about different uses of VAM. Of course there have been discussions and maybe a few scenes on using VAM as an educational tool, or even therapy. I like to tinker and build, and so build on the creators resources. There are some really smart people here, doing things beyond my understanding. VAM's protentional is staggering, at least to me. From what I understand there are some build limitations, that may be surpassed in future releases. I really like some of the ideas some are pursuing in AI, and be able to communicate through voice and response. There was a recent thread on incorporating something like character.ai into VAM. Mind blowing ideas. Personally, although not an artist by any means I enjoy drawing, and take many screen shots to practice my sketching. There are some plugins, I know to improve on the photo aspect for sure. I use the simple tool in VAM to take screen shots from different angles to sketch the Look, in different poses, etc. Of, course using that method of a screen shot does distort the picture (I take it in VR, when I see something that inspires me.) Occasionally, if really inspired, I then pull out the real pencils and try a real drawing. I enjoy sketching while on conference calls. Anyway, my phone camera sucks, here is a sketch I did yesterday. Don't know the Looks creator, as I was using the presetloader plugin on random, and I have renamed, many of the appearances, that I have altered in one way or another. I do consider VAM as a kind of art medium. IMG_20230128_072227973_1.jpg

Because of poor choices in my life (along with crippling social anxiety), I find myself alone and isolated in my 30s and my chances of recovering are looking bleak. I use VAM as my only medium to simulate intimate human contact. That's about it. I don't even care for all the extreme sexual stuff (I find most of it revolting, to be honest). I just want to feel some vague hint of what other people must be experiencing in real life every day. So for me it's half therapy, half sexual.

i hope you're doing ok dude. i don't think it helps taking the glass-half-empty outlook, i think that just drags & keeps you down..
when you're down, you can either stay there and feel sorry for yourself, likely nobody will care, or force yourself up and push forward towards better circumstances and a better you. vam's not therapy, it's escapism

Yeah, you're probably right. I guess for me it's a dangerous addictive substance, like alcohol is to an alcoholic... Like, on the one hand I have an incredibly complex problem that will be very hard to solve, and on the other hand I have my headset, and the easy, instant escapism it provides.

Man, future VR is going to create problems. We're going to have an entire generation of atomized, lonely people retreating and disappearing into the "metaverse". Oh well, I better stop derailing this thread.

it might go the other way though and make many people more comfortable socializing and they'll use that skill and seek that experience in real life as well. we'll sure. it will be interesting for sure

but anyway, can't be worse than world of warcraft, sitting down all day and clicking a mouse while staring at a box.. I look at people playing counter strike or call of duty vs pavlov or onward in vr, to me that's a huge upgrade towards something more healthy

I am not huge into army games, although I like the sniper elite series in NON VR. However, Pavlov is an exception. I love the sandbox aspect of it and the ridiculous number of maps and mods in the workshop. Good stuff! I finally can play it again after getting an additional SSD drive, I kept bottoming out on space, with all the maps. To keep with the theme of the thread, I do think that VR is a great tool for people that have mobility issues especially, and I think VAM is a great tool for people to explore and enjoy interaction, if mobility restricted or isolated. Pavlov as well for that matter. .....however, real people interaction is probably, necessary for personal growth.

definitely

In regard to animations, I think they're too difficult for most people to get creative with. You kind of need a mocap suit and even with that I know some people struggle to put it to good use, it's hard work. Without it, it's a ton of work.

I think that some of the most advanced & interesting projects in vam are underground/personal projects not shared. Most of what I've seen it used for was for images in visual novels or other story-driven games. Myself I haven't seen it used outside adult content a lot. I think just for some music videos

With embody and the lipsync apps many use cases are possible for all kinds of productions. Metachat expands these possibilities, but we haven't seen much live filming stuff. Also it's incredibly superior to AI art for making comics and way less work than drawing for storyboarding. It's not great for game design, but not bad for prototyping. Also great for quickly showing someone the immersiveness of vr.

I like to use vam to recreate scenes in movies, or just things I have imagined. VAM is a powerful way to do this, but it is complicated to learn. I think the VAM community could go much farther if more creators were willing to work collaboratively versus alone. Most just want to do it alone, or stay hidden like I did for many years.

I was thinking that too, would be cool if there is collab for a feature length/on going series lol. when I was playing EVE online, there was a whole community effort to create a fan man movie.

My personal use was mostly just to try something that would test my pc to the limit, so i got this because it was recommended. 6 months odd later and im using it to make games and such. The sandbox aspect is fascinating, and as i come from a programmer background i love finding ways to make things happen using triggers and logic bricks.
My goal is to create a basic little AI type affair that will use an atom and attempt to make it semi autonmous - eg it will breath, look around, interact, attempt to interact with you and move by itself or change poses fluidly without disrupting other plugins etc.
So far theres alot of plugins already that do this - but the customization is limited to either knowing exactly how the plug works already or attempting to copy files into folders to see if it uses your new custom files instead.
I love downloading ppls scenes and seeing what others have created though - considering what the program was designed for, its surprisingly entertaining :D

I only just got a big computer upgrade and can run VAM how it was probably meant to be run... But I don't have VR! But that's okay. For me, I think it's a handy tool for creating characters that I can't draw, and having realistic references. I play a lot of TTRPGs, and being able to create my characters has been really useful for making photos for other members of my group, or for just being able to visualize them as a whole.

People making plugins for more interactive type of games like story mode, and things like that, is so neat and I'm really excited to see what else people can come up with... I'd love to see what people could do if they worked together on more projects. The Halloween event was a really fun thing - so many creators who worked together are only helping each other improve and I'm so happy to see it.

TLDR: I use VAM as a dress up posing/modeling studio for my OCs because I can't draw lol

I "use" Vam with one (n.1) hand. My right hand. I use it always when my gf is not at home because she is jealous even of my other hand (my left hand): with valid motivated reasons.

ps: anyway... she still doesn't trust that I am ambidextrous. But specially since my last hardware upgrade, my gifted power with both hands was becoming even more useful.

My opinion: the models look somewhat ugly, at least artificial and flat when viewed in 2D. It's like using DAZ in pre rendered mode (well, how ugly), then let the render engine do it's magic and voilà, top notch graphics!
I use 2D mainly for a fast edit or simple creations when I don't want to put on the gear, start the Lighthouses etc etc. Doing a quick look into.
Whenever it comes to "enjoying" a scene there's nothing that comes close to VR. The girls are astonishing, the reality is freaking. You are really in the scene and I never have seen this quality before or hoped for getting to know my own creations so close.

For what do I use it? Well, believe it or not, for me it's more of an exploring thing. Hot and erotic or brutal and simple porn. A belly dance is something really enjoyable, hey, lets try this veil on, little girl. Do the dance a bit faster, hey come over here. Playing around with the models is the most entertaining IMHO. I am still at a level were manipulating the world is quite some work, and work and erotic doesn't work well together. It's like playing around with alife puppets.

The actual sex scene.. well, I noticed a pussy is a pussy is a pussy in VAM. Not so much variation and you always know how they look down under. Not much of a surprise for the last 100.000 years in RL too, I think.

Have you considered just getting DAZ or Poser? They're free (not like Max or Maya, costing an arm and a leg). If you don't have VR, those rendering engines are easy to use and far superior in terms of lighting as they have actual raytracing built-in these days.

Basic weight loss program

I use it as a Virtual desktop companion while using a treadmil for a slow-paced walk + Music + Headphones.

Now that’s an idea! Virtual running companion. A scene with an infinitely long road/scenery and an animated running pair. You can posses one of the two so you run with the other.
I think you just gave me my next project.

I’m making all my sex phantasy get cloose to reality with this, holy crap I’m using it with oculust since 1 year ago and I’m happy as hell with all of this, pornhub feel even booring, i cannot whait to have this with feelsuits or ai companions, future looks amazing with this kind of tecnology  i only wish i know more from programing to create plugins by myself but the comunity of vam it’s amazing! They have something for alot of circumstances and uses.
This is turning into a black mirror chapter! And i love it!!!🤖

Just in case anyone forgets, Black Mirror was a warning, not an instruction manual (I know they normally say this about 1984, but I feel it also applies here).

Black mirror was a drama but they show some technology really interesting and i'm in love with all of that, removing of course the drama, i guess technology will bring some drama to our lives and bla bla bla but i prefer to not think about that, at the moment i feel happy with all this and the near future with AI an vam looks really promising, of course if you cannot live your live normally because of this causing some mental issue you probably should stop using this kind of things (i'm speaking in general not in a particular case)

You can't have novel technologies and just "remove the drama" (I assume you mean, "leave out the impact on society"). Actions have consequences. Some of these technologies, like VR and AI, very much have the potential to bring utter ruin to civilization, or least the lives many people in it.

Black Mirror was literally a show that showed versions of reality in which things went horribly wrong. Which "mental illness" compels one to want to transform the world into that, I wonder?

.How do I use VaM? As it was intended :sneaky:
To me it's interactive porn, and I'm the director + actor. Everything is possible, that's the whole fascination to me.

You don't understand my point so i guess you have your point of view and i have mine, i'm pretty happy about that so lets stop with the drama okay? :ROFLMAO:
