VaM 1.x How can i use female hair/clothes on males?

Hi, i was messing around and noticed that you can't use female hair nor clothes on males, is there a way to do that?

Hairs can be used on a different skin type if you copy the files to the folder of the other sex.
e.g.
Hair for female is in Custom/Hair/Female/CreatorName/HairName/hair files
to make it usable on male, copy it to a corresponding folder but change female to male.

As they normally come in a VAR, you'd need to unpack the files.

I actually never tried it, I'm just remembering stuff people said over the years. I think it's true though.
