General community attitude towards more fringe content?

Hey,

I'm new here, been using VaM for a few months. I've mostly been just creating looks, using as little 3rd party dependencies as I can. The community in general seems awesome and I love all the clothing/etc people spend countless hours on and share freely.

I created few looks and posted them here, the first one seems fine and some people reacted positively to it. It's a ~20-30 y/o looking female. The second look however, was definitely younger looking, approx an 18 years old girl. I thought it was fine, however users seemed to react at it either laughing or commenting like it's some horrible abomination, saying it's "wrong" and giving 1 star rating because of their subjective reaction.

I guess there's no point in sharing any borderline "fringe" content here then? Though I don't personally categorize such content as fringe anyways, it was an adult model after all. I was just surprised by the reaction but I decided to delete the resource from here if it bothers some users. I'm all for feedback and please give me 1 star ratings if you think my content sucks, but if the reason for that is that you don't just like the idea then I don't know what's the point in commenting and rating it.

Anyways I'll try to restrict my shared content in-between these invisible unknown "moral?" barriers from now on, I guess.

Have not seen your look, but in many countries (including mine) that kind of content is illegal. Yes, that includes content where a model that is actually over 18 but some judge thinks it "looks younger". And in case of virtual character saying the character is 18 does not make it 18. In my country just having that in your browser cache (!) because you accidentally "looked at it" while scrolling through hub resources and the thumbnail was there somewhere could theoretically already get you close to prison.

If your content is following site rules then you shouldn't worry about it too much.
But then again if type of content is "different" then don't be surprised if people react to it "differently".
That tends to happen if content is not under "moral-standard" or whatever you wanna call it.

It's true, everyone have different tastes/preferences and that's really NOT up for debate here.
If not mistaken i was first one that reacted (on that particular look/your current avatar) with "laugh" reaction, because it genuinely made me laugh, not that i tried to disencourage or be disrespectful (there is angry emote for that).
Now i can't speak for others (why they followed with same reaction) or was it worth 1star negative rating (maybe not), again tastes & perferences (not up for debate).

Although community here is positive, there are occasional "hickups" when "wolfs" jump onto some content with angry emotes or 1star spam (with troll accounts).
In that case best to think about it, how you wanna name your content/present it and double-check where and how are you sharing it (even posting under wrong section (free), instead of paid is gonna trigger few shadow-warriors).

In the end, if everything is ok under "rules" and "copyright" plus some "common sense" then no need to stress over it (not saying to be careless).
If you wanna keep making something "different" but still legal, there is enough space for everyone to coexist.
So you do you. ;)

...also @MacGruber has valid point to think about.

You both have valid points. I don't know, maybe I'll just try to focus on sharing more unique content instead of plain boring looks that are basically just a collection of morphs applied on the default model. I mean, looks are quite subjective (at least in my opinion) if we think about just body morphs while more creative/versatile content (actual 3d modeling, scene creation, etc) can be judged way more objectively as a whole.

To be honest it made me laugh a bit too, but those reactions in combination with the harsh comment and rating made me question (rethink?) if it was an appropriate kind of resource in first place.

Anyways thanks for the detailed responses. Also I wish I had chosen a better username for this account, I just quickly made up some random name.

I seen Hentai that has "children" and just say its a 10,000 year old elf or something lol in the US 18 is 18 that's the age they start porn. If some people think 18 is wrong that's not your problem, we have tons of wired kinky stuff here from animal lovers to trans. You do you, just don't break your country's laws like they said.

As long as its 18+ it should be no Issue i mean if some feel offended you shouldn't care.
Its not good that you think of having done something wrong.

Its great you are creating Beauty Models and i havent seen the one you removed but the world is fully of Haters and Trolls and one likes Big Breasts one likes less.
Everyone has their own tastes so. I really had to reply since i entire dislike that someone who creates "Art" may get such a vibe here.
So from my side feel free to release whatever you like as long as its 18+

Some here post like 80+ Models, or extreme Chubby, so what should people think ;D
I guess such receive negatives also from some but won't stop because this is what they like to create and share.

Actually i like the amount of Look types here much and this should sure stay as it is . Creative Freedom.

Most people on here are from the US, are 40+ and just want to fuck versions of their mom, because that's the closest they've ever been to a real woman. This means anything that looks under 50 without G cup tits is considered underage. Ignore them. Everyone has their tastes, but slim, healthy and youthful is frowned upon in the VaM community because "think of the children"! Or something. Wait. No. Don't think of the children, you horrible pervert!
When it comes to laws, don't fret it. As far as I'm aware this site is hosted in the US, so content on here has to conform to US laws. Unless the character looks like a real, identifiable underage person, then it is all cool by US law. How the site chooses to moderate that content is another story - you just have to look at the way a skinny model fucks up colliders, clothes, tits and other morphs in VaM to see Meshed hates slim girls.
As for laws in other countries, that's on the user. Remember, homosexuality is illegal in many countries, but it is not up to you to be considerate of any and all wacky laws that are out there. That's on the them.
But looking at your content, maybe the laugh emoji was because, well - how do I put this kindly - your proportions are all fucky. If you are going for your own version of how a woman looks, then you do you, but real ladies, regardless of age, are not built like that, so don't expect reactions to be 100% positive.

I think more young people (18+) would be into VaM if it was advertised better and not so hard to run for a PC I'm 30 and I hear dating is in the gutter these days even for people in 20s. I think age plays a part in relationships way more than porn when they literally have a genre with 18 vs old men ?

And what about every thing should be free and remove the stupid give credits to the creator while there shit is free…….most of the stuff here is garbage and very bad when you make good looks that should be nothing but a plus for the creators and the one making (and I don’t even care about that) the looks. The only reason I used to make looks was because of the paid bullshit and in my opinion everything should be free and free to use without any constrains or bullshit credit giving you made it for free so don’t expect a Giraf like in kindergarten. Removing my looks was good and and I don’t care about it ……….but the I want a Girafsticker mentality is just fucking stupid, grow up your adults now.

I really hope people see the bigger picture and make this place a super great place with free and good stuff because it needs to be….. and not like it is now only one out of 10 is good stuff. Instead of going for there own ego make this the best place with great content made with everything that is available for free……..I made looks for free and loved it but I dislike the bullshit some creators talk with there f*cking big ego.

@VRKanojoFucker To say it even more clear: It is probably nothing wrong with you or your work! But your unintendetly stired up a hornets' nest. I think the community is really tolerant in general, but never ever share a look that might be looking underaged. That is the biggest no-go here. The developer of VaM is a US-American and so VaM is under US jurisdiktion. As MacGruber said, even painted underage p*rn is strongly forbidden in the US. Tolerant or not, no one of us wants to take VaM into danger of being closed down by the US government. This is no "invisible unknown moral barrier", but written in the forum and webside rules.
Again: Please don't feel offended! We had lots of discussions here, and you are only one in a long chain of people unintendendly tapped into that trap.

I really do not like the s p l i n e VR stuff at all.... But I would be sad to see it go or stop publishing because what we need is variation!
I do not need 80 clone looks and 46 same position scenes.
As MacGruber said, some countries take a very hard stance on under-age content and just saying "She is 18" doesn't make any difference if they visibly look younger. It's best just to avoid it all together and side-step the issue. If you have to "justify" your looks and explain them away then you are probably on the wrong side of, or too close to that line.
Don't let that put you off creating though!
Find a niche that isn't filled and go wild.

some countries take a very hard stance on under-age content

Some countries take a very hard stance on homosexual content, or even pornography as a whole. If you live in those countries, you need to be careful based on what is relevant to you. VaM is by a US creator, hosted in the US, and mainly with US users. The US is the relevant law in these discussions.

if they visibly look younger

But that is super subjective. My perception of 18 may not be the same as your 18. The way VaM creators caricature what a real woman looks like has put the notion in many VaM user's heads that anything without G cup tits and a ass with it's own zipcode is underage. It is frustrating for us with totally healthy, normal attractions to anyone that isn't a bus.

You say don't let that put you off creating, but then say:

It's best just to avoid it all together and side-step the issue

So we're OK as long as we conform to your tastes?

What this really does is chase creators of slim girls out of the VaM community, and sometimes they have to find refuge in some really gross places.

Too bad it never got big over with the loverslab creators, would be tons of "kink" content available  ?

@dangerous_pervert
In theory, you are right... it is highly subjective!
And in some cases it is a pitty...
BUT again: We all don't want to put VaM in danger of being closed down by the US government or getting the bad taste of being a tool for ... you know what.
But at the end it is so easy to edit looks to meet our different taste.
Yes, many of us have stopped posting stuff that might be on the edge, like Hermi*one Grang*er or Harr*y Pott*er stuff, for instance, or even some flat breasted looks. You are free to do what your like at home, but please don't share looks or screenshots.
It is not only something that some users don't like to see, but it is a strict official rule in the VaM Discord and the Hub!

As TToby said, not about morals or taste, it's against the law and the rules.
Not sure why anybody would want to push at that line when it's easy to just not.
That said, It's a shame more "fringe" content (not including illegal stuff) is lacking. As far as I am aware the 'furry' stuff is legal and pretty damn popular all over the place but I am surprised to see none in VaM.
More variety is good.

If such "legal" content is not wanted at VAMHUB to be advertised for creators of more legal 18+ content
such could also release their "looks" at Deviantart , which offers subscription signups for content creators and their deviants / signing members now.
Or they could open a site / shop with single files downloads to avoid such mess and even wouldn't have to pay Patreon 30% of their sales incomn.
I wonder why XspadaX seems to be the only one currently releasing his beauty VAM Content very successful and current exclusive at Deviantart.

And i also wonder that there is such a lack of dedicated VAM artists websites / mini shops selling VAM content with a Paypal or CC option.
And if it would be a side business trying out how it works to contribute your content your own.

In my opinion Patreon is so much lacking interaction. You cannot even comment technical accurate there and that in 2021.
And that content access / scrolling mess at Patreon is a huge downer too. You alltime have to reload all previous loaded content with that annoying "load more button" to reach the past / elder releases. And if you reload the page , or re open the Patreon Site this has to be done again for each 20 release step by step....
This is such a crap platform for people who sign up a VAM Creator if such creators catalouge expanded already. Horrible workflow.

I think you are missing the point...
Many countries now have laws that make it illegal to produce, share, or posess depictions of children (under 18) even if they are 100% fictional. and the standard for defining what is a "child" when it is completely fictional is very vague. Yes that is absolutely insane, but that is the world we live in.
You should be able to understand that consumers, and especially Meshed VR (creators of vam) do not want to risk going anywhere near what could be considered to be a depiction of an underage person in a sexual context (on vam).
If you think that Meshed VR simply should not care about this issue because it is perfectly legal in the US where they are based, you are not thinking outside of the box. If Meshed VR took that stance, they'd lose a very large chunk of their backers who are not based in the US.
Additionally, some of the best, and most widely used content for vam, including plugins and other content, is made by people who are in countries who have laws against underage (fictional) depictions, and Meshed VR would lose those contributors too.

Bottom line is this... If you want content, or want to create content that isn't censored beyond what is allowed under US law, then you are going to get mixed up with websites that also allow stuff YOU don't like, such as very much all the way underage depictions.
The community here however, does not want to see content blurring that line, because many of us could end up being held criminally liable for it.

Moderator here. Just for the record, when we're alerted to a look that's maybe underage, all us mods take a look and weigh in on whether we think it appears underage or not. We judge solely on the appearance and make a judgement call. It doesn't matter if the author says "she's 18". If it's a depiction of a fictional character, it doesn't matter how old the character is supposed to be in the book or movie. It doesn't matter how old the actor who played her was when the film was made.

All that matters is how old the model looks to us.

If we decide it's underage, it's removed, and the creator is invited to age it up and repost it.

OP, to avoid puritan scrutiny like the kind you're receiving right now, just post your work elsewhere. Don't announce it here. Do what everyone else does and post it on Pixiv fanbox, Patreon, etc. It's an offline app. Unless you loudly announce what you're about to use it for, no one needs to know. Definitely don't risk prison for virtual poontang, either.
