• Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.

Black culture content

I saw this thread the other day and it stuck with me for some reason. I'm white and haven't made many black characters in my day. But I thought this was a good excuse to release my first look, and take a crack and making a black girl for VaM. It started as just "hey how would I do this if I were to try?" And ended up with me imagining a whole personality, story and look.

If you like, check my resources page and let me know what you thought. Thanks for the challenge.

I think it just boils down to there not being enough creators wanting to make these types of models. I don't think they have anything against making dark skinned models, maybe they just aren't thinking about it. I don't see anything wrong with this though, I think a creator should make what they want to make.

I'm from the US and of African decent as well and I see what you saying. I'm going to say some out of pocket stuff but for me I like dark skinned baddies with some ass and that look seems nowhere to be found here. Some modes just look like people of other nationalities with dark skin slapped on them.

Below are a couple custom models I tried making my own using a mixture of morphs mixture I've accumulated over time. It would be cool to see a better creators take on the "baddie" look. I use the "baddie" only because I can't think of any other way to describe it lol.

Do you ever plan to release the second girl? I love your first model!

I find this thread (and question) a little odd.

Even more so when I see your released resources being almost exclusively light/pale skinned women and one black man.

Why should others make it if not even you are willing to do it?

Hello, I am French of African origin, I find that African culture or even black Western culture is very poorly represented.
If you can enlighten me on this? I will be delighted, thank you
I agree with you and it sucks even more so that the first replies you got were essentially "nu uh." Legitimately there's 1 good dark skin out there and a few "ok" skins, then you have shit that isn't worth loading because it seems to have been made by people who have never seen a black person in their lives.

I'll let you in on a little known fact: human skin is not uniformly colored, it's less apparent on lighter skin tones and even more apparent on darker skin tones. Certain parts of our bodies are darker than others, like our genitals. Even if you aren't aware of this subconsciously you'll notice it and it will seem "off."

erm...

texture painting
and here's a free image editor

I don't know what else to say because... most of us here tend to see if anyone else has solved a problem and then apply some elbow grease. Most of the high quality skins are done by just a few people...

Now as far as doing it with beginning to low skill, i'd reccomend finding a lighter skin, making 2-4 copies of it gimp, apply a layer mask alpha, adjust the HSV on each layer, and then painting what you want via transparency, EZ, takes 1-40 hours

You don't need to remind people that texture painting exists, it's well known. The point being made isn't that it's not something that's possible it's that some of us exist and maybe if people are aware of that they may be willing to expand into that section of the population. Even If I published my skins people would still be limited to what is a single digit quantity of assets available. Imagine if all of your looks only used 1 skin set. Even if it's your favorite you'd still eventually want some variety.

The reason why I commented on this thread is because I found it while looking for something to quickly add to a look that was using the very popular Tasha skin by RenVR because the palms of the hands on that skin had me wondering if we were put on Earth just to suffer.

Tangential to that: recommending GIMP to people should be considered an act of violence, GIMP sucks and we should all strive to not inflict that harm on other people.

well!

Good comment about skin tone variation. See my comment above about spray painted models. I would describe the Gimp user interface as user hostile. ;) The only thing I use it for now is creating normal maps from bump maps. I use PaintShop Pro, but making quality skins is a labor of love. It's not a trivial thing. I tried making some palm and sole decals to lighten those areas, but I made a mess of it. This is ideally done in something like Substance Painter, but that's expensive for something you only use once in a while. Somebody did create some lighter palm and sole decals, but they're only for the Monique6 UV. She's dark enough.

Hi-def textures are mostly graphed by HD real human images.
Use this site (https://www.renderhub.com/3d-skin-textures) to find human skin and graph the skin with the Substance painter "Warp Projection tool" (
) Here's a Template (https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/g2f-substance-painter-template-with-material-groups.8014/)

For example, Riddlers skin 8 (https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/skin-8.19296/) is from (https://www.renderhub.com/3d-sk/luna-corazon-full-body-texture-photo-set). He's already did a fantastic job on that skin and gave it to us for free, so you may want to try something that hasn't been wrapped yet.

You can then add blemishes and build on the wrapped textures, using the wrapped textures as a base and add to it to give it some variety.

I've used Riddler's skin as a base and build over it extensively all the way from adding blemishes between thighs, wrapping new torsos, nipples, new face and blemishes etc. (https://hub.virtamate.com/members/blackrose.84200/)

I would say that making ethnic content is a little more time consuming for the different body types, blemishes, skin complexions etc.
It's not easy at all. It's much easier to have a general beige complexion with a general thin body type. I spend way to much time making
body types bend naturally in every pose.

But yeah, wrap those skin textures and learn those blemishes and share for free <3

You can buy Substance painter with a 1 time purchase through steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2718190/Substance_3D_Painter_2024/)
It's worth it.
