Hello!

I am a 3D modeller that has been learning and playing around with animations in blender. I would like to start playing around with NSFW animations, and I have been scouring the internet to try and find NSFW animation data. Surprisingly, this is really difficult to find. Apart from a small handful of animations, the only place I can find anything at all is here and loverslab. Since this is by far where the most content is available, at least for what I'm looking for, I've gone ahead and paid for access to some mocap data. I would like to import this mocap data into blender so I can play around with it. However, it's all in .VAR format, which I am not familiar with, since I don't use VAM at all. Hence my question. How can I convert or extract the mocap data from the .VAR files into a .FBX file, or some other format Blender can read?

I've looked around quite a lot and cannot find an answer to this on the forums, other than one thread which mentioned a VAM addon that can export .BVH. However, since I am not a VAM user, I need a solution that doesn't involve VAM. It looks like a really cool piece of software, but I don't have a need for the software itself, and I would prefer not to pay for something I don't need. Even if I did go ahead and pay for it, I attempted to install the demo. But I am exlusively on Linux, and I couldn't get the launcher to install the demo without soft locking under WINE. So I don't think VAM is an option for me regardless.

Appreciate any help!

A VAR is just a zip file with a meta.json file and whatever content is packed in. Animations done in Timeline or Scene Animation are stored in the scene's JSON file under /Saves/scene.
I don't know of ways to convert that JSON data into FBX or other formats because I never tried to. If you found a plugin that can export to BVH and if that's a format you can use or are able to convert to FBX, then you already have a solution.

If the plugin you mention is an external tool to VAM, then you don't need VAM. If it is a plugin to use in VAM, don't despair, because linux is not a problem and the key to have the full unlocked VAM would cost you about 10€ one time.
I use VAM on linux, so I can attest that it works. You can run it using Wine, Winetricks, Steam, Lutris, etc. I'm currently using Faugus Launcher handling proton and everything else needed, simple to use and runs great.
To get a Creator key to unlock the full VAM options, you go to Patreon, read the instructions for keys, choose Creator key, pay about 10€, save the key, enter that in VAM to change to Creator mode, end your subscritption in Patreon, and that's done. VAM will work forever with the key you have,

Surprisingly, this is really difficult to find.

Of course, it's 2026, VAM's hub is probably one of the last remaining source of semi-prioprietary and or CC content available for free. The rest of the internet needs to make patreon money, so why would they share their animations for free : )

I would prefer not to pay for something I don't need

You obviously need it. If you stumble upon a proprietary file format, and you have not idea what it is, you clearly have to own the software to understand it. (and that's not like we're talkin' adobe licence cost).

You don't "extract" data from the json/var file, you need to code something that will rebuild from the ground up the model itself and the animation to get to the final FBX. Or as you pointed out, extract this as a BHV. Which Blender handles.

VAM is "agnostic" by itself when it comes to animation. The model is not tied to the animation, the rig itself is. So the only solution I'm seeing here if you can't spend 8 bucks, is that you'd need to come up with a python script that reads a scene json or a .var file, and rebuild from the ground up the animation and bring it to a G2 rig from Daz in Blender.
That's a cool idea, that's a lot of work tho.

Might be a little off topic, but the creator below has lots of free NSFW animations although for MMD rather than FBX. The mmd_tools plugin for Blender would allow to import them for mmd rigs at least. Then maybe there's a way to convert to them for other rigs but I wouldn't know.
