Solved Clothing tear simulation

So I have a character with a dress/gown and I want her to rip off the "skirt" part of it for bottom-only nudity. Is this possible? I figure it has to do with cloth sim and triggers, but not sure.

You can't rip the clothes, but you an make a alpha texture (transparency), apply it using a trigger, better yet also a ripping sound, and that would work.
Depending on your clothing, if it's divided into materials you could hide certain parts of it with the alpha adjust slider for that material.
