Background information

Previously I've written a guide on how people use VaM as well as stuff you can buy to enhance your VaM experience. One of the things I mentioned was VR sex simulation, and I have since gotten some requests and seen some confusion on how to use VaM for this purpose.

This guide is being written from the perspective of someone with a penis wanting to interact with a character that has a vagina. This is to ease understanding for what I assume is the most common VaM user, but also for me to write from my perspective. Regardless, if you are aligned differently, the language in this guide can be adjusted and should work for you all the same (i.e. differing character genitalia, toys that you can insert into yourself rather than insert yourself into, etc.)

There are a handful of different interactions you can have with VaM, and different ways in which you interact with the VR world and the VR world can interact with the real one. A female character in VR can be moved around using a tracker in the real world, and a robot in the real world can be moved around with the movements of a female character in VR. In addition, you can easily control a male character in VR, but there are fairly limited ways of which I am aware in which the movements of your male character in VR can control you in the real world.

1. Move a VR character with a real life sex toy

This is one of the easiest ways to have VR "sex", but I don't think it is the best. In many ways, you are simply using your sex toy manually, but from your VR perspective it will look like a living person that can moan and move in relation to however you are using the real life sex toy. However, your movements won't really be seen by VaM, so if you are thrusting into the sex toy, this won't be represented in VR.
Essentially, you will control the movements of a VR character with a VR input device (a controller or a tracker, such as the Vive Tracker) that is attached to a real life sex toy (a Fleshlight/equivalent sex toy or a dildo).

I previously created fleshlight endcap replacements that will accept a Vive tracker or VR controller, as seen below:

As seen in these gifs, as I move the Fleshlight around in real life, the female character moves with it.

Guide to doing this

First I'll link to the VirtAMate subreddit guide on Possession Mode, which is a decent starting point. However I'll give a basic summary below.

In order to do this, you must first attach a VR tracker/controller to a sex toy. How you do this is up to you based on your toy and VR setup.

Then you will create a "physics link" between your tracker and the specific point of the character (Their head, hips, hands, feet, etc.) To do this:
image1.png
Go to "Edit Mode (E)", click the select option (The mouse pointer), click "Person" under "Atom", then "pelvisControl" under "Control".

image2.png

In the next menu, select "[CameraRig]" under "Link To Atom", then the specific "TrackerX" or controller you have mounted to your sex toy under "Link To". This may take some guess work to figure out which to use. Then, after you have moved your sex toy in the same position as the female character in VR (i.e. the VR vagina aligns with the fleshlight one) Select "Physics Link" for "Position" and "Rotation". The VR character will now move with your sex toy.

Some additional notes: You may want to add a male/dildo, in which case just put both characters in position first (i.e. the female straddling the male), take possession of the male, get your real body in the same position as the male so your penis aligns with the VR penis, and then run the aforementioned procedure. After this you should now be able to have a form of VR "sex" in which you can visually see the VR character move as you move your sex toy in real life.

Warning for Vive trackers, you need to configure the tracker correctly to work in VaM, see this link.

2. Move your VR character with your real life body

This is my preferred method of interacting with VaM as it is easy to set up and use. Like the previous method, you are simply using your sex toy manually, but from your VR perspective it will look like a living person that can moan and move in relation to however you are using the real life sex toy. The difference here is that the way you move will be seen in VR, but the VR character you are interacting with will be more passive and will not move in relation to your sex toy.
Essentially, you will control the movements of your VR character with a VR input device (a controller or a tracker, such as the Vive Trackers) that is attached to your body (Inserted into a waistband, or attached to a belt).

In this case I have a fleshlight inserted into a mount. After aligning the female character with the fleshlight, I then align a VR dildo to my hip tracker. Now, as I move in the real world to interact with the real fleshlight, in the VR world I can see the female character move and moan in relation to my real life movements.

Mounts include just inserting your fleshlight into a rolled up towel or in between your mattress and bed frame, a Liberator brand mount (Missionary or doggy), or even a plush sex doll like Meiki. In theory you could get several Vive trackers and attach them to your mount or plush sex doll and, like in method 1, you could move this mount/sex doll around in the real world (i.e. seamlessly change positions).

Guide to doing this

Again, I'll link to the VirtAMate subreddit guide on Possession Mode. However I'll give a basic summary below.

In order to do this, you must first attach a VR tracker/controller to your body. How you do this is up to you based on your VR setup. I have a Vive so I can natively use the Vive trackers and a compatible VR belt. If you have a differing device, you can instead use one of your controllers and a normal belt to hold it in place, or just tuck it into a waistband. Then you will create a "physics link" between your tracker and your VR character's hips.

This procedure is similar to the first VR sex method I mentioned, except you will first possess the male character or move a dildo into the approximate position of your own genitalia. After that, you will follow the above procedure to link your VR tracker/controller to the male character's pelvis, or to the movement of a dildo. I would consider using the dildo option as it allows VaM to run better, and you won't have to deal with the male character moving around in a way you don't want them to.

Additionally, you will also have to move either your real or your VR environment so they align around your sex toy and the female character. To do this, you can use one of the VaM navigation methods and take your headset on and off until your sex toy aligns with the female character. You can also just move your sex toy to get these aligned.

To make this process easier, look into plugins like Embody, and just any general advice people have on motion capture/full body tracking.

3. Robotics that will control a VR character, or that a VR character will control

This can be bi-directional, but in either case the end result is the same. Control is taken out of your hands. Like method two, your movements will not be represented in VR, but the movements of a VR character that you are interacting with will be represented in the real world through the movement of a robot stroker.
If you have/obtain/build an OSR-2/SR6 (Multi axis DIY robots, basically the best possible movement, as well as heating, suction, vibration, and lubricant application), original Fleshlight Launch (Discontinued, only unidirectional), or a Handy device (Unidirectional) you can either have VaM control the movements of those devices, or if those devices can move on their own, have that movement fed back into VaM via a tracker like in method 1. Likewise, sex machines like the Hismith, which are more oriented towards dildos rather than fleshlights, can be used instead. You can also use vibrators like the Lovense brand, but obviously these are only capable of vibrating in order to give you a similar but not identical sensation to a thrusting dildo.

Guide to doing this

This heavily depends on your individual device. For the OSR-2/SR6 especially, I would consult the official resources. For other devices, however, you could look into using VaMLaunch repack or ToySerialController+VAMLaunch. Most basically, however, I recommend using scenes where the male is not moving.

4. Robotics that will control your real life body, or that a VR character will control

This category is extremely limited and the best I can think of would be e-stim devices or Bluetooth vibrators such as the Lovense. There are no "force feedback" devices of which I am aware that will force you to move in a certain way in the real life, outside of punishing or rewarding you for doing so. For example, MacGruber's Connect plugin gives a way of experiencing VR "self-bondage," in which if you move out of a certain position you will experience an electric shock. This could possibly be flipped around, so doing something the scene wants you to do like hold a certain position will activate the vibrator. Perhaps there are bondage devices which I am not aware that could integrate with VaM, but most of what I've seen is designed to restrict your movement, not physically force you to move into a certain position. If we want to go full sci-fi we could imagine a full on exoskeleton that would take you to whatever pre-programmed position the VaM scene has, so you would essentially be a passenger, but obviously nothing like this exists today.

Guide to doing this

As I said before, this category is extremely limited and something I am curious about delving into deeper. Methods 1 & 2 of having VR sex are easy, but really not that exciting when compared to 3 due to the fact that the game isn't having any big impact on the real world outside of what you see and hear. But with method 3 and other forms of teledildonics and control like that of MacGruber's Connect plugin, I see an exciting world of VaM experiences.

5. Combinations of the above

Combining method 1 and 2, for example, would give you a pretty easy way of simultaneously controlling your movement and the movement of a VR character with your real life interactions with a sex toy. Methods 2 and 3 will allow you to move in relation to a VR character that will move with you. So, you could mount a OSR-2 in a way that you and your VR companion could both thrust against one another. You will have to play around with this in order to determine if this adds to your experience, and if the difficulty you experience in operating it makes it worth it.

Conclusion

Finally I'll say this: lazily strapping a tracker to a sex toy and then using it to move around an expressionless husk of a VR character will be as unsexy as it sounds. You should look into adding plugins to enhance your experience. VAMMoan, for example, has an interactive mode in which the VR character you are having "sex" with will moan as you thrust different depths and speeds before culminating in an orgasm. I would also look into Life, Glance, Realtime Lipsync, and others in order to really bring the VR characters you interact with to life. You can also animate the VaM characters as long as those movements don't get impacted by whatever sex toy movements you have going on (i.e. Have their arm's move around and animate, but not their hips/pelvis). If you are using a robot, basically the world is your oyster, as you can usually drop in whatever plugin is required to get your robot moving in relation to whatever scene you downloaded.

Thanks for sharing. I want to use SlimeVR to add a tracker, but the tracker will follow the head display to move relative position (on a set of bones), and cannot independently position the displacement in space. Is there any solution?

I've been using VaM for awhile and I still learned a lot from this guide. Where did you get the thing to attach a controller to the fleshlight? I need one.

This is for most VR controllers, but they aren't all tested since I don't own every VR headset on the market right now.
