Question VAM and VRM files

I know you can use blender to convert stuff to VRM and I know that MMD can work with VAM, though I don't know exactly how all that works. Does anyone know if you can convert a VAM model to VRM? Or would it be a process like VAM to Blender to VRM? Also, does anyone know if VRM files are exclusively anime style or if you can make them non anime? I'm thinking of trying to use VAM to design a character to import into RPGM using the 3D model tool made for RPGMU/MZ.
