First of all: I'm privileged and I know it. Living in Germany in general is a blessing but even here not anyone is able to afford stuff like this. I'm not rich but i know how to handle my money. So to all the people living in poorer countries who are reading this: you really do have my empathy. I know there are a bunch out there participating in here, dont be angry or sad or jeallous: money is not everything. The opposite is true: money makes the people sick. Anyways ...
I was always a hardware enthusiast and I have a weakness for good looking things, so a good GPU is a must have for me. The 13900K I bought recently was a pure rational decision of wanting the best single core performance for VaM, otherwise I would have bought a 13700K or maybe would have sticked to my "old" 12700K. But yeah, 13900K rules VaM right now, big step up from 12700K for sure.
DDR4 was a financial decision: that time DDR5 was way too expensive and the performance comparisons I watched on YT weren't that massively different. Sure I could get some FPS in heavy physical scenes but ... who cares. It's fast enough right now anyway. I try not to spend insane money on nearly no performance gains, stay rational.
Right now I am pretty happy with my rig: I can play with maximum quality settings and resolution scale (ingame) at 1.5. This makes it possible with 1 male and 1 female almost in any scene and light setup (6 lights, no environment) to game at constant 72fps (because of 72Hz). Amazing, a massive step up from original a 9700K and a 3080ti. If I add Environments it looks different, depending on textures, lighting and general size. But it's playable, with less lights (2-3).
A 3 people scene now finally is possible (2 females, 1 male), even 4 people is possible (2 females, 2 male), and it's even possible with 3 females and 1 male, with lower FPS (30 maybe), depending on the physic settings. But it's possible. Hair, clothings, textures and lighting always suck performance, if you know you know.
Yes, that's my machine right now. I am really thankful to have the possibilities to own a piece of technique like this.
