I download VaM, and VaMx and all the packages on the VaMX link page has me download and yet there is still a bunch of addons that are missing even after that. Every scene and everything I do has the red box listing a bunch of missing things. Is this app/game only meant for people who do coding? I don't know what to do! Can you help? (Example Below)

You don't need to be a developer to use this, but this is also a enthusiast software where the community content can require you to learn a lot of things and resolve some problems.
I hope you went through the many tutorials you can find on using VaM, especially the ones mentioning dependencies and how to get them. If you haven't, then do that.

You don't need to be a developer to "decode" the error messages, just take a closer look to what it says. All the ones saying "missing addon package" + package name, are for dependencies that you don't have and are required. Download them and those errors go away, although others may appear later.

The first one I suspect it's a problem with the mentioned VAR, maybe your download of the VAR was corrupted. Delete it and redownload.
The last one is a problem with version 9 of the ascorad.expressions VAR. It's not something you can fix, but you can mark the VAR that has this dependency to ignore dependency errors in Package Manager (VaM UI).

Yeah, I figured out what to do after I posted this. My bad. Thank you for the reply.

I will say that I am missing YameteOuiji.Preset_skirt_002Pleated_Mako.latest and the Wix site everyone has posted is no longer available and I can't find it elsewhere which is annoying.

Btw, you have a strange warning at the top saying "cannot find central directory".
Ensure your game is installed in a proper directory (like your game folder), not a secured system directory (like System32)... to avoid any issue.

It's installed on the desktop

Im getting the same types of errors...does VAM need to be installed on the same drive as Windows?? I have mine installed on a separate internal drive.

No. I have it on a separate drive. You need to have proper permissions and read/write authorizations. That's all.

Hello, so as not to start a new thread, I will use this one. I also have several errors in my log, including, for example:

!> Exception during zip file scan of AddonPackages\14mhz.View2Atom.4.var: ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipException: Cannot find central directory at ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile.ReadEntries () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile..ctor (System.IO.FileStream file) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

- I have my VAM folder in C:\Games\VAM. Is this the problem?
Should I move it to C:\VAM? (Can I just copy and paste the folder?)

- The link that Atani posted for ‘Contribute to a list of Error Log errors to help users fix these problems’ does not work.

Thank you

You should have started a new thread, or searched more thoroughly for the same error. Most likely you have a corrupted var file. That "Cannot find central directory" message says Vam can't even read the file. Delete it and re-download it. Anytime you have a var that might be suspect, open it in 7Zip. If 7Zip can't open it, delete it.

I avoid creating topics on subjects already under discussion. Because anyone who comes across the same problem will read what I read, will read my question on the same page (which may be the same question these people have), and will read your answer, which may help someone else.
I search thoroughly before asking. But if the solution is to open new topics, I apologise.

Some discussions becomes irrelevant with time and bumping threads is not ideal. Especially if said thread is almost two years old.

Cannot find central directory means several things :
  • Corrupted zip file (rarely)
  • Impossible to write which includes:
    • Lack of hard drive space
    • Incorrect rights on folder
    • Incorrect path (special chars)

Thank you, I asked two questions based on the topics discussed in this thread due to this error (regardless of whether the cause of some of the errors is corrupted files), which left me with some doubts:

- Is the location ‘C:\GAMES\VAM’ not recommended?
- Can I simply move the VAM folder from one location to another using ‘copy paste’ (I don't like doing this with installed programmes, but if there are no repercussions, I'll feel better)?

*If you prefer, you can delete the last messages, no problem.

Location is fine, unless you made the Games folder more restricted in permissions than the default, which I doubt.
Yes, you can move VAM somewhere else, it's not installed can be moved anywhere. Also makes it easy to do backups.

The probem will continue to happen if you move VAM elsewhere, as the problem is in one or more of your VARs or disk related as stated by others.
