Hello, i started getting into making 3d nsfw videos about virt-a-mate and i was wondering if it's legal to use it commercially to make videos.
i started a patreon page, and that's basically where i might get money from.

i have read the VAR Licenses page in the forum and i won't use things which are marked for NC in general.
i was just wondering if it's fine to use looks for example that a different person made, in the end i am not claiming the credits for that
, i am just animating with ideas i have and maybe do a plot about it. i just don't want to be scared that someone might come up to me and somehow make me delete my work or something

example look i might want to use: https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/genshin-ayaka.17697/

If someone could help me figure out the legal part on that, it would be great :D
i could provide a test sample also if that helps.

kind regards, piCtrues

As far as Vam itself is concerned, commercial videos are fine.

Where you'd run into issues is with the specific downloaded assets you use. For example, the genshin-ayaka resource you linked is shared with a "CC BY-NC-ND" license, meaning you can't use it.

Probably. It might be worth contacting the author about it. I suspect many people who don't want their stuff used in paid Vam content would be fine with it being used in a video. But that's up to them.

You will also need a "credits" section at the end of the movie where you credit any "BY" licensed assets.

To check the license for any .var file, either open it in Vam's package manager, or open the var file with your zip utility, then open meta.json with a text editor.

is there a way to show the "secondary license" also in the vam hub ingame?

I'm not sure. In fact, until now I didn't know "secondary licenses" were a thing.

Isn't secondary license only used on PC EA packages?
Once early access ends (expires) secondary license applies, unfortunately hub only shows/reads first "licenseType" (PC-EA),
maybe it's not configured to deal with EA stuff and read "secondaryLicenseType" or date (from package).

interesting, could be, it sure is annoying tho, because it appears that you have to download the stuff first and then find out at some point "Oh! that's actually licensed differently!"

Well, the system is geared towards people using the content in Vam, not in video. You don't really want to reference PC (paid content) in your Vam content anyway, as other people aren't going to have it. If it's PC, you shouldn't assume it's OK to use in any case, so you'd have to do more digging anyway.

Oh, and if video's are primarily your thing, you should look into getting as pornhub account. They have a Vam section. I understand there are some hoops to jump through to get verified, but it might end up being more lucrative than Patreon. You'd certainly get more exposure! More exposure for Vam, too!

im also in the same boat, im primarily looking to make videos with vam, but use a variety of paid plugins, looks, and environments. am i free to post videos of custom animations/poses as paid content on patreon? or do i have to check the license of each individual asset to make sure?

Vam scenes, videos, pictures... whatever. It makes no difference. With everything you make using Vam and then share or sell, it's your responsibility to make sure you stay within the license terms of any assets you use.

If your a regular creator, it's a good idea to keep a second Vam installation that contains only assets you can legally use in stuff you distribute.

Excuse me to ask. You said you understand there are some hoops to jump through to get verified. Can you tell me specific what I need to do to pass? Because I also want to upload adult videos using virt-a-mate. But I applied to pornhub’s content partner program but got no response.

Sorry, no, i haven't done it myself. I just read others peoples descriptions that there was a process they had to go through to get approved.

Hub is supposed to be displaying the secondary license once the "Early Access" period has ended. This might be a bug.
