• Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.

"Active" filter for clothing/hair stops working

The Show Active filter is a must-have feature when one has a ton of Clothing or Hair items. Just recently, this function in my VAM installation has started acting weird. Upon initial load of VAM, it functions normally. However, after using VAM for some time (perhaps 15-20 minutes), or after loading a couple a scenes, the function stops working properly. No items are displayed in the browser when Show Active is on. Sometimes, it will show the default clothing items only (even though the defaults were not active).

My question is: where should I start looking to debug this issue? It is getting to be a pain to quit and restart VAM every time this happens.

For the record, my VAM installation is heavily tweaked. I run sfishere's VAR Browser which keeps the majority of my VARs in a separate archive dir. And I move files back and forth between that archive and AddonPackages. And I also run Pesadilla's De-Duplicator AND I use Bill Prime's VAR Manager to prune duplicate clothing items. And coincidentally, I just recently ran JayJayWon's symlink batch file to trial Browser Assists' VAR isolation feature. I deinstalled the feature but this may have contributed to the problem.

Anyways, because of the complexity of my VAM installation, I do not expect anyone to be able pinpoint the exact problem. But I am hoping those who are knowledgeable about the internals of how VAM works (especially the Clothing and Hair browsers) to give me some pointers on where to look to de-bug.

TIA

Did you click the circled arrows to update the list?
Yes. And the rescan button also.

Quick update: when this happens - meaning that the active button doesn't seem to work - it turns out that all the clothing EXCEPT the default items from MeshedVR also disappear from show all. In other words, the problem is not so much the Show Active function - rather it is that VAM cannot access and display non-default items.

This issues seems to be fixed by loading another scene. Then after a while the problem appears again.

I'm holding off doing an update for the security fix since the Performance Patch doesn't yet work with it. I may do a maintenance fix on the VAM installation. Or I may not. Frustrating.

I was hoping that it would have been easy like: "Oh it's a well known prob with this XYZ plugin. Just roll back and the issue will be gone ...."

That's definitely not normal. I don't recall any plugin that presents that kind of bug. I'm also on 1.22.0.3 for the same reason and don't expect the updated version to change whatever is causing that.
As you say your VaM is heavily tweaked I cannot offter any advice beyond downloading a new VaM, copy your things over and test if that happens.
