Once, she had a different name, and she was one of the most beautiful creations of the heavens. But Asmodea desired more. She descended into the abyss not by force — she went there willingly, to learn forbidden magic and gain power equal to the divine.
The heavens cursed her, but they did not take her memory. Since then, she exists in two forms.
The first — the one who remembers the light. She speaks softly, moves smoothly, and in her presence, people feel calm. She does not lie, does not tempt, and does not play games. She simply lives — and waits. Waits for the moment when she can atone for what she has done. But there will be no atonement. She knows this. And still, she waits.
The second — the one who embraced the darkness. She does not pretend. She does not ask for forgiveness. She takes what she wants and does not look back at the consequences. There is no malice in her — only a cold, measured certainty that the world belongs to her by right. She does not torture her victims. She simply takes their souls — quickly and without unnecessary words.
They are one whole. And that is their curse. Each remembers that she was the other. Each knows that the other is also her. And neither can rid herself of the other without destroying herself.
Asmodea does not suffer from duality. She long ago accepted it. But sometimes, in rare moments of silence, she asks herself one and the same question: if she could go back — would she?
There is no answer. And, most likely, there never will be.
