Hi everyone,
A user wrote this post:

you guys need to add subsurface scattering to the Shader, for realistic skin..

Under a video I publish on SexLikeReal HERE
This is a 3rd person preview

What do you think about this?
Eventually, can you suggest something to do in VAM to make a better realistic skin?

Thanks

Before adding scattering to the Shader plugin, I add tonemap and play with postmagic.

You can get that plugin here. Since it's a video what you can do is just use Luts/colour correction in whatever editing app you are using.

I think you should ignore that comment.
The problem here is not SSS, it's the overall lighting (there is no judgment here).

People are throwing words they heard over video game dev videos without understanding the meaning. SSS exists in VAM even tho it's kind of faked. I think you don't need SSS if you improve the lighting. And even if you did, with a direct light/very lit scene like this... VAM is getting old and won't do miracles : )

Your scene seems great, your light is cool, just ignore people throwing random non-sensical words at you ^^

Thanks for the suggestions.
And thank you for the kind words regarding my work ;)

This.

People on SexLikeReal don't know this is (or could be) real-time rendered in VR and actually interactive. And its a game engine that is a century old in tech-terms. So don't take their comments too seriously. But as Hazmhox said, light is everything. In an ideal world you would use ray-tracing or even path-tracing so simulate individual photons of light bouncing around in the scene.

Anyway, if you aren't doing that all ready, from the video I'm not 100% sure, it should be worth a try to use SkyMagic (part of my Essentials) to improve reflections of the environment on the wet skin. Basically you do a 360 screenshot of the room without the characters, possibly with slightly exaggerated lighting, and use that as "Sky". Process is a bit convoluted as you have to go through Unity Editor 🤷‍♂️

Here is the difference when the reflection shows actually what is around the character, rather than just "something":
