VAM-VHT VAM Virtual Home Theatre

Plugins VAM-VHT VAM Virtual Home Theatre

Hi Bob. Don't know. What do you use for recording? An external software? VAM is basically Unity. I would start from Unity docs if I were you. To record 6 discrete audio channels I think for sure you have to place 6 discrete Unity Listeners in the Scene, and then find a software which can interface to Unity and record the 6 Listeners as discrete audio channels. Hope it helps 😉
I've just been using Nvidia's built in recording.

Hi unfortunately since version 9 videos have been playing at double speed for me.

Hi, what do you mean with "double speed"? Audio faster than video? Video faster than audio? Both faster than normal speed? May you be more precise please? Thanks
Yes audio moves at double speed and video is choppy.

Does it occur with every movie? If yes, it could be a performance issue. Try lowering all VAM performance settings, disable ambient light and retry using the simple demo scene. Please let me know. Thanks

Ok will do. I tried with multiple videos and got the same result. Never had an issue with it until v9 and now 10. I'll try some other adjustments.

Very strange because version 9 just introduces curved screen. It's a matter of geometry, not audio/video. Sure it isn't from version 7? Version 7 and 8 are ok?

So I tried it today during a couple different sessions and with about 5 different videos. I had all settings as low as possible and was getting about 40 fps during the test session with only one person atom in the scene (I used the demo scene to test it). It looks like the video is okay, but the audio is running just a little bit fast. It seems like it's running at about 1.2 times the speed. It may be that the issue has been happening since an earlier version, but I don't use it all the time so I just noticed this issue at v9. After v10 the problem persisted.

@VAMic Novelist thank you for testing and reporting. The issue you are experiencing comes from version 7 (if you read version 7 release note it's clearly written). I accelerated a little the audio speed to keep it synched with the video, but was not sure if it was a per machine issue (each PC needs a different audio speed based on its performance) or a general issue. What you reported makes me think the first is the case. I think I'll have to add a slider to control audio speed, so that everyone can adjust it at need. In the meanwhile you can use version 6

@Sinful_Rose wonderful plugin. Thanks for sharing with us.

Regarding x265 I guess it is not supported. Is there any chance in an upcoming version?

Hey, I downloaded this and it's way better than the only competitor I've got working. I've got two issues though. 1) There's no sound coming from any video, and 2) any time I use the scrub function the video crashes and has to be restarted by doing "Stop" and then "Start". The scrub bar also turns red, not sure if it's meant to.

Are there solutions to this? I'll clear the obvious up: volume sliders are up to full, all audio sources are in the room.

@jsimm Both the issues are very strange.
As for the audio, can you hear any other audio coming from VAM? Your windows audio settings are ok? Did you try the demo video included in the var file (you have to extract it from the var file to play it). Do you use the suggested settings for video/audio encoding?
As for the video crashing using the scrub, never had this kind of issue... What do you mean exactly with "crash"? If you try moving the audio offset slider do you experience the same issue?
The scrub bar is intentionally red to distinguish it from the others

With audio, yes, it is working absolutely fine, playing a scene that I know has audio and then adding your plugin, I'm still able to hear the usual sound from the scene, but audio directly from the subscene emptyImage atom has got absolutely nothing.

By "crash" I mean the video freezes playback, and obviously I can't tell you what happens to it's audio. If I click stop and then play again the video resumes but only from the very first frame, so touching that slider always means starting from the beginning. I'll test the audio offset slider in a tick, but if I don't add anything here just assume it made no impact to the video freezing.

Also, I should add I've confirmed these two issues persist with any video I've tested it on, and I've confirmed those videos do have audio, so the issue is the plugin and not the video I'm using. Really appreciate your quick response!

Just an update, I think it works now, the subscene might have been playing up on the first install. Checking it on the demo scene was a good idea too, just to see if it worked generally or just per scene. Thank you for the help!

Glad it works now... Just for the records, can you tell me what the problem was?
