Hello, so I actually want to make a clothe which is not availbale on this website (at least in the way I want it to be) so I would like to make it myself. The thing is that I have no idea about if a single software is enough. I've saw this guide which use 4 softwares with 8 steps ?? Isn't Marvelous Designer enough to made a clothe ? I've also heard about something like Genesis 2 female or something which If I'm not wrong is supposed to be the main female model VaM use. Considering there's a tutorial about the clothe I want to do, I don't think it's going to be that hard either to made my own and needing 4 different softwares, I am right ?

Thanks for anyone that can help me :).

If you don't have any specific requirements for the model's wiring and UV mapping, then MD software is indeed sufficient

I could say yes, but that would imply that MD does its job perfectly. Which is not often the case. If you're lucky, you could, but anything complex would often require UV rework.

UV is a planar mapping of an object and is an indispensable part of every 3D modeling. It is similar to...

In MD, you create the panel layout, which is equivalent to your UV mapping. However, you need to manually adjust the position of the individual panels
I used a translator. If there are any mistakes, please let me know.

Here's another explanation of UVs that may help.

There are also ways to create clothes without expensive software. Check out the guide below.

Well actually since English is not my native language I'm not sure If I understand everything correctly, but I think that the UV is the thing you would use to place correctly the clothe on the person, right ? I did also ask ChatGPT and he told me that it's also used for texturing, for my case I would not need any texture.

Well actually as the user above said, MV include kind of this UV thing, like you draw in 2D and then you see the result in 3D. So why does I would need to fix UV later if MV already has it ?

If you don't care about UV, just randomly lay out an UV for the model and make sure the model stays on the specified plane

It's not that I don't care but I just want to know why do I need it exactly and how ? I'm really a newbie about that so I have no knowledge at all. But the clothe I want to make is not that difficult itself but Idk how to set-up everything...

OK... If your model doesn't have UV mapping, import it into VAM and it will turn completely black and won't allow any color adjustments

Ok, then let's say I will use UV, how to it in the easiest way. What software would I need alongside with MD ?

You don't need the specific textures you desire. Then just use MD
A piece of software is sufficient to create a piece of clothing

I think it's probably a problem if you're that of a beginner. You might want to learn how 3D objects work, the overall modelling concept and the UV concept. How texturing works, since it is heavily tied to UVs. AND THEN when you know the basics, you could consider thinking about MD.

If you burn the steps in learning how everything works, you're either gonna be completely lost, or never get the results you're looking for, or spend weeks to even reach the first step of having a proper model.

MD is not a software that removes the knowledge needed to manipulate complex data like 3D Objects.

I think that I'll be fine if there's a tutorial that's showing what I'm exactly looking for otherwise yes I'll have to learn many things. Is there a step by step tutorial somewhere ?

YES The clothing must match the model of g2. The image shown here is just a demonstration.
So I guess that you create a new project where you import g2 model then draw in the UV a clothe which is after created automaticelly in 3D and you can ajust as you wish. I am right ?

Not that I know of :p
But you have no idea how much troubleshooting game dev/3D modelling is. Even with a proper tutorial, nothing is gonna work as expected x'D :p

It's not entirely true. I need to conduct simulations and make adjustments for the fit of those garments
Perhaps you can think of it this way as well
I think you need to look for some instructional videos on making clothes using MD software. For example, you can search on YouTube

Well for my case I would just want to create a veil so I don't think its harder than creating a t-shirt or anything else.
