Is there a way I can get a trigger at the end of the segment? I want to automatically start a fade and move to the next segment.

Solution
When you add your target in Timeline, at the top right, you have "Add trigger track".

You can create keyframes during your animation, each keyframe allows you to (still at the top right) edit the trigger and its action list : )
There is no "end" to a segment.
There are only animations contained in a segment. Animations can do gazillion of things depending on your setup.

Be creative, and think : )

Create your animations, configure them as you want the segment to behave. Then in a specific animation, transition/blend into a specific animation called whatever you want, like "EndSegment", set it's duration and trigger a fade out, then transition to another animation.

Timeline offers endless possibilities... just think outside of the box.

How do I actually trigger things from an animation?
