• Happy Holidays Guest!

We want to announce that we will be working at reduced staffing for the holidays. Specifically Monday the 23rd until Jan 2nd.

This will affect approval queue times and responses to support tickets. Please adjust your plans accordingly and enjoy yourselves this holiday season!

  • Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.

So lately I noticed that most scenes just won't load properly (missing components entirely like environment, hair, clothing, etc..) when first starting VAM. In addition, trying to load something (like a scene or particular VAR) will be missing from the file open list completely, as if it's not there.

This is all fixed when doing a "rescan packages" action. Then everything loads fine and all VARs show up as expected. But this is getting cumbersome to do every time VAM is loaded. I never had to do this before and this started happening the last several weeks.

Anyone else experienced this issue? I suspect it might be down to a bad VAR somewhere, like a bad file name, but there's so many VARs and the filenames look fine to me this is really hard to pin point, if that is even the cause. I

Any ideas?

First, run vam_updater and check for core integrity.
After this, if no problem found, you might need to dwelve into that error log to figure it out.

An alternative is to move out packages in groups outside of the AddonsPackages, if you believe the problem is in one VAR. Then you can open VAM with each group, checking which one has the issue, and from there reduce the group until you find the package messing it up (if that's the problem cause in the first place).

I have the same issue and did not come to a conclusion what the problem might be.
I simply open the Hub from the Startmenue, jump to package manager and rescan. Then beginn my session.

This is happening to me now and so frustrating since I need to spend some minutes waiting and clicking buttons only because VaM cannot properly locate packages when launched...

Have any of you tried getting a clean copy of VAM and see if the same problem shows?

Yea I am having this problem . It only started once when I had a crash and ever since than I have to rescan the packages to get the things back that are not all hosted on the hub

The tips in message 2 didn't work for me, at least not the 1st 2, I really don't want to go through each and every package and move them to find the culprit, that would be an insane amount of work. Did anybody find a fix for this? Scanning packages upon every load is a pain in the arse, this all started for me around a month ago.

went on a trip, came back, and this thing happened to me too, have you found the fix?

Never found a fix. Going on a year now... load VAM, rescan packages, total pain. This coupled with the fact that for some reason after loading a couple scenes my Quest 3 (be it link or wireless through airlink) stuttering or basically the headset video goes out of sync with the PC making it unplayable, forced to quit VAM, close the link to my PC, and reinitiate the whole process. Basically why I stopped using VAM about 6 months ago , the whole process isn't worth it. If anyone finds a fix please post it here.. anyone else have that stuttering video issue after a few scenes?

Very likely you have corrupt VARs messing up the scan process, as I said before. Others have had the same problem, I also at one point, and by now there may even be some scripts around that can check for malformed ZIP (that's what a VAR is) files.
When it happened to me I used the old fashioned separation into groups, move them in, scan, all good, move to the next. When there was a clear break I checked the group, quickly found the problems. Nowadays I would look up the tools here, or look up some kind of batch zip scanner, write a simple python script. Maybe this one helps, it's available for over a year, no idea:

I came back to VAM recently and this is still a problem. I downloaded some of latest VARs from the past year and my list is well over 1000, this is too much to go through even batch by batch. I've simply come to accept this routine of starting VAM, rescan packages, and then start session.

VAM is such a buggy and performance mess I'm not too keen on working on in it anymore. Which is disappointing because I created a lot of good scenes I wanna share but just wondering if it's even worth it these days.

To call VaM a buggy and performance mess is kind of crazy bro. Especially since this isn't a common problem.
I have spent so much time on this game to learn the ins and outs and during this games life bought a new PC just to play VaM better literally 3 times. The effort that goes into setting up a game with 1000+ vars (i actually have ~4500) is a lot and learning all the options within this game is too, but anyone can see how amazing the output is when you put a bit of effort into it.
It's worth going through your vars, you might even be able to remove some you dont want and gain some FPS while you do so. Going through 1000+ vars won't take THAT long, Atani has great advice to test your plugins quickly batch by batch.

Hello, I got this problem after I change my windows non unicode language. I change the non unicode language back and fix the problem. I hope it work on you.
