I moved my entire vam install to a different drive today and now none of the plugin are working. They show up red and just say error when I try to reload them. also favorite menu for plugins is empty for some reason.

You probably moved it wrong then :p
VAM is "portable" more or less. Clear the cache, verify the cache folder path. And eventually do a repair with the launcher.

Also make sure the new location isn't write-protected, or some "special" location Windoze doesn't like having user data in, like Program Files, or the Desktop.

Solved it the problem seemed to have been from a old mmd plugin I used to use. Don't know why it started acting up now but I still don't have my favorited plugins showing up do they save to a specific location.
