Here are some feature ideas to improve performance, usability, and workflow in VAM:

  • Smarter asset loading
Do not load old VAR files unless they are actually needed.
Example: A timeline range of 100–250 frames can trigger loading of 150 VAR files, unnecessarily filling the database and slowing everything down.
And a don't show items in HUB already downloaded X
  • Download queue system
Add a visible download queue where users can wait and manually activate downloads.
Updating even a single download package can take a very long time due to heavy database operations, so queued control would greatly improve the experience.
  • Informative icons on VAR preview images
Add small info icons directly on VAR presentation thumbnails, showing what the content supports:
    • VR
    • Embody
    • POV
    • Animation scene (timeline-based)
    • Each info icon could link to a short guide or documentation explaining how to use the plugin, scene, or asset.
    • Rating Stars ?
    • Tags for filter ?

  • Tags and subcategories for better search
Allow these features (VR, POV, Embody, Animation Scene, etc.) to be selectable as subcategories, search tags, or filters to make content easier to find.
  • Delete VAR packages directly in the browser
Make it possible to delete unwanted VAR packages, scenes, or assets directly from the browser interface without manual file handling.
  • Preset management plugin
Create a plugin that stores all presets in clear categories.
Users can choose exactly which presets they want to keep when opening a scene or project.
  • Preset save prompt / auto-categorization
Optionally show a popup when saving presets where the user can enter a name.
The system then automatically saves and categorizes everything under that name.
Alternatively, use an automatic ID system like:
    Save-00001, Save-00002, etc.

These changes would significantly improve performance, organization,
and overall workflow in VAM, especially for users with large libraries and complex animation projects.

VAM 1 will not be updated anymore, I'd suggest making a similar thread regarding "VAM 2 must have/improvements over VAM 1" instead.

And I think most of these points are available with Browser Assist (JayJayWon)
