If you want to pose only the head to be affected and not the rest of the body, I'd say that you've got to use Timeline.
Add a layer for the head, maybe the neck and the head morphs you may want. Then do a few simple very short animations which will place the head the way you want. You can trigger those animations via triggers (with one click on a button for instance).
