For paid content, do I pay per scene, or do I just subscribe to the creators Patreon and download from there? And if the latter, do I only have access while I am subscribed or do I have it forever once downloaded?

Solution
Usually they have a Patreon or other pay site...and its usually a timely subscription with different tiers...if its month by month you only have the content up to that month...you either DL from whatever site they have or links to MEGA etc.

You should have access to already downloaded stuff even after a subscription is expired (for example on patreon). At least, I am not aware that there is a system in place that prevents that.
You just have no access to the (patron only) posts with the download links anymore without subscribing again. And, of course, you don't have access to newer content.

it depends on the creator... in general most of these creators give you the entire thing upon subscription but there are some that require a higher tier subscription. AND if you missed it and changed your mind; there is an upgrade option, so you can get the lower tier first if you wanted too and upgrade the same day or shortly after if it ends up being the content you like.

I HIGHLY recommend you subscribe to a few of the top creators even if you don't like them. As it was eye opening for me when i first subscribed to about 6 patreons at once recently.
And there is a reason why some of them are the best and it isn't always clear until you see their paid content and look closely at how they animate and add fidelity and quality of life to their work. For example there are some that may animate with Mocop but don't clean up any of their scenes. BUT some of us are looking for those types of creators because it allows us to take the animatinos and actually manually add in the plug-ins and clean up the animations ourselves as we may not want to deal with the Mocap portions. I orignally didn't like "Mocap" creators, but comparing their work to "Non-mocap" there is a clear difference on how "life like" they can do things with mocap.

That goes for "looks"/model creators too.... as there is going to be some looks that just don't work well with the physics/collissions in vam and causes major issues with hair and accessories.... so it's best to try out alot of different creators and find out what you like and don't like.
