Im about to get a new laptop and it would be nice if this new one could run VAM in VR to some capacity as I do on my home PCs. Im fully aware of the performance differences between portable and desktop GPUs and processors of the same set. Mainly, Im curious if anyone here has VAM VR experience in the gaming laptop arena.

The one I will likely get will have this...
  • Intel® Core™ i9-14900HX processor Tetracosa-core (24 Core™) 2.20 GHz
  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 with 8 GB dedicated memory ( Wish it had more memory )
  • 16 GB, DDR5 SDRAM (will upgrade to 32 )
  • 1 TB SSD ( Adding another TB )
Not exactly desktop material, but I would not mind lowering the my VAM standards for hotel stays.
What do you guys think? :coffee:

Yeah, VaM would definitely run on this machine. Even VR would work, but it heavily depends on the scene. Don't expect every scene working flawless.

Even a high end desktop computer can struggle with some scene's. But it's definitely doable on this machine. Also keep track of the heat. Maybe buy a extra fan for under the laptop.

Keep in mind not to use VaM in a public place.

I got this setup , but with a 4090 instead . Ive been running VAM well enough in VR that it is not painful as this is only for business related hotel stays. I have a baseplate cooler for the laptop now that looks like a hovercraft and weighs as much as the laptop, but its nice and keeps the temps stable at high loads.
