Question Do I need to submit my morphs in .VAR format before making a paid content post?

I am attempting to post a paid resource for the first time and I'm seeing that it is required to package it as a .VAR to be screened first?

I am setting up my patreon to grant access to a simple library of morphs I've created as VMI, VMB, and DSON support files to be downloaded and placed into the morph section of the game files.

Is this not allowed? Or am I required to sumbit them as .VAR first?

Answers greatly appreciated

The VAR system may not be perfect, but it has countless advantages over loose files. Especially if you like to make a library of morphs to be used by others, then it definitely should be a VAR. Why? Because then others can link it as a dependency instead of including it in their scene. That means you get the credit you deserve and people can find our where to get that dependency. Also it avoids duplicate files if multiple creators start to include your stuff.

You mention file organization, but the thing is that is hard to get people to agree on a way to organize files. There will always be someone who does it differently. With VARs, every VAR can have it's own folder structure. You can even have multiple versions of a VAR, which is as...
Why not just using .var system? From a client point of view, I would prefer a var than having to deal morph files I may don't know about. When you created a .var with Vam, it use the same automatic structure you will found inside your custom folder, you don't have to worry about that.

That makes sense. From my point of view as a user I personally would like to try and keep the .var count down as I find it suffocating to have all custom content located in a single, big bloated folder when there's already organization built into the base file layout.

But to each his own I guess.

With VARs, every VAR can have it's own folder structure. You can even have multiple versions of a VAR, which is as MUST for plugins as they are sometimes not backwards compatible. Try that with files that have to be in a particular folder.

If it were a free resource uploaded here to the Hub, VaM could even automatically download it for the end-user. Also morphs are a massive performance drain on VaM, even when not used. The benefit of VARs is that you can disable them, without having to remove them.

TL;DR: Learn about VARs, don't fear them. Its worth it as a creator to spend the time understanding them.
