Katarina Romanova (28) was born and raised in one of the harshest and most dangerous regions of Russia. Growing up under constant pressure and strict control from her parents, she reached her breaking point at the age of 19. Determined to build a life on her own terms, she left everything behind and moved to the United States.
Her first months in America were far from easy. With nowhere to go, she spent time living on the streets before eventually finding a job that allowed her to support herself independently.
