Hi community, hope you are all well.

I am knew to VAM and have just started getting to grips with the software and functions however there is something I need assistance with if possible please?

When I download a created female from this platform, is there a way that they show in the game as they appear on here including the clothing, like a template selection?

For example, I downloaded the female character "Noelle" however in vamX she only appears when I click the option "upload female appearance" in which her model replaces the female in the scene however she appears with no clothes on and her body type is not the same (its slim rather than ""thick").

Is there any way of having the character selectable fully clothed / the right size as shown in the download or do you need to manually add the clothes etc?

My other question relating to her appearing as slim, would this be because I need to download for example the body morph thats listed in the credits for the making of the character or would this automatically be included in the download file?

When in the hub, I do select "download all" once the file has been put in the Vam folder etc. In which all show as green / downloaded other than 1-2 red items which state something like "not in the hub" or words to that effect. It states she is "in library" but I was assuming she would be showing as a templated character thats easy to select in game.

Apologies if Im not making much sense or if the question is very simplistic, I am just getting to grips with the game and am not the most tech savvy person either!

Thanks guys

No. The way resource publication is asked is by only including what's available for that look. Generally we also suggest that any appearance should not have dependencies and only contain a look.
If someones takes shot with external resources (clothing), they should provide information for that. So you can only rely on people being thorough and making great release docs.

See previous point. Also, size does not matter in the grand scheme of things. Appearance will enforce the original size, you can tweak it by yourself.

You need all dependencies of the look/appearance if you want the character to look right.

If you're a newcomer, you should avoid anything not "hub hosted". What states "in library" simply means that var is in your library. BUT, this does not mean the creator did a proper job.
There are like 3 ways of saving a character :
  • Saving it into a scene (load scene button)
  • Saving it into an appearance preset (select character > appearance preset > load preset)
  • Saving it into a legacy preset (select character > control & physics 1 > load look)
It's obviously easy when you know, it's a nightmare when you don't sadly. Just memorize these three, and you'll be able to load pretty much any look.
You can obviously suggest creators to improve their releases by doing proper appearance presets :p (this is today the way to go, and the other two are "obsolete")

Also, please name your questions properly, this allows others to find the thread and gather information/help without creating new ones : )

Some published "looks" come as an appearance preset only, some come as a scene only, some have both. For any character you download that only has a scene, you can locally save an appearance preset that will duplicate the way that character looks in the scene they came in. This includes morphs, skin, clothes and hair. For accessories like clothes and hair that are CUAs (Custom Unity Assets), an appearance preset won't work. The resource should come with instructions for duplicating that too, if it uses them.

I'm fairly new too, this is what I do, if I download a model and it comes with a scene I go into the scene, click edit, person, control and save look, then I go back to the default scene where it's just a girl in a blue top and skirt, and load the look I just saved then customize her how I want and when I'm done save look again. This way it's easier on your fps trying to customize her. If you download a model that don't come with a scene you can just go into any scene click the person, control, change appearance preset, then click all flattened and you will see all your models in there, except the ones where you had to save the look on. Hope that helps.
