Yeah you can put the plugin on both atoms, load mocaps on them independently, and they are both loaded to the overall Scene Animation that plays when you hit play
Hmm but if one animation is 10sek and another 20sek then how to manage it? eg i want to set first anim at 4sek and second at 11sek and then start? or do you mean that only one animation can be loaded at time.

Unfortunately both animations are loaded to start from the beginning. It'd completely make sense to be able to add some start padding though, I'll make a note of implementing that at some point! For now, I suggest importing the mocaps to timeline and then editing there

How to load mocap to timeline? does the output animation(i mean movement of body parts) is same as mmd after loading ? so if mmd work for some apearnace so imported as timeline would work axactly the same?
 
Hi there, great mod idea however when I load a save mocap to another scene the character just freezes in the pose with no animation, I'm sure the problem is with me but I have tried many options but with no luck any help or advice would be hugely helpful, I'm using latest vam by the way.

Hi, are you sure there is actual mocap data in the Scene Animation for the person atom? E.g. mocaps that are Timeline animations are not saved by mocap switcher.
 
I'm trying to load: Idle mocap by VamTimbo.
When I select the var / scene, all I get is T-Pose.

Am I doing this right?
The plugin currently can't load the mocaps directly from the scene json. You need to open the scene, save the mocap to file with MocapSwitcher, and then you can load the mocap json that you saved.

I need to update the plugin to better distinguish between mocap json and scene json files in the file browser, and give an error if the json that was loaded was not formatted correctly or detected to be a scene json. Hopefully soon! :)

Perhaps adding that as a note in your main post? Thanks though, I'll do that.
Would it be feasible to create a script to do this on a command line, and just feed it a directory? (instead of having to convert each one using plugins).

The main page lists what the features are, there's no feature that says "load mocap from a scene file" :). However that is also planned for the next release.

Just to add some perspecective from a lowly Vam user (and not a mocap expert). The writeup assumes that I naturally know that a mocap is different than a mocap scene, and that I somehow automatically know it can't load a mocap from a scene.
Clarification is a good thing.

It's more that the writeup assumes the plugin is smart enough to automatically guide users to use it properly, which it currently is not 😂. Thanks for the feedback.

hello , does this plugin still work , no matter what i do it doesn't work , loading a dance animation after saving from a scene it only loads first frame as a pose not the animation

It still does on my end. Are you sure you've saved an actual animation? Make sure there's a Scene Animation first like if the seek bar moves, second make sure that there's no "second animations" happening like Animation Patterns, Synergy, AutoThrusters, or Timeline animations, those cannot be saved with this plugin. With Timeline, however, you can bake the animation as a scene one and save it. Keep in mind that finger morphs or facial experessions can't be saved. Lastly, there can be multiple mocaps across Person atoms in a scene, so make sure the one you're selecting is the one that have a mocap you want to save.

If it's Timeline dances and not the ones from MMD Player or something similar, you can bake the animations as Scene Mocap. Go to the Timeline Plugin, go to Animation you want, the click the 'More' tab above, Go to 'Advanced keyframe tools', and there's 'Bake animation (arm & record)'. It'll play the animation you're at and record it as mocap. Make sure it finishes the animation or to the point where you're comfortable to cut it. Try replaying it with Scene Animator and if it plays back, that's where you can now save it as Mocap. Again, only joint movements are recorded and not facial or finger animations.

And yes, you can save it save it and load it to most atoms via triggers. Or, if you got something like UI Assist, you can make a button playlist full of dances or in my use case, a bunch of sex animations from multiples sources and play them in one scene with low performance cost. If you want to play the mocap in a specific X/Y/Z area, drag the atom there save it as a pose. Load the pose AFTER the mocap is loaded as not all mocaps have their Control point leveled or even near the Atom.
