VaM 1.x Publish look with Hairstyle preset included on appearance load

Threads regarding the original VaM 1.x
It would honestly be best if you deleted the resource and uploaded a new one.

The main issue now is that you renamed the var file instead of uploading a proper version.

Your first file is called `ErrorC9.Moya_German.1.var`

Your next version should be called `ErrorC9.Moya_German.2.var` but you have somehow named it `ErrorC9.Moya_v2.2.var`.

I would recommend deleting this resource and uploading a new one with the proper filename, and also so that the new resource will appear in the Hub's recent posts instead of being buried.
I see a lot of people making this mistake. All this something_v2.1 and something_v3.1 stuff gets posted as an update, then Vam doesn't even know there is an update.

In Package Builder, you're supposed to choose Update Existing, rather than the default, which is to create a new package. I think choosing update would keep the same name.

Hi everyone, friends!

I finally want to upload my custom looks to Hub and Patreon, but I’m having a similar issue with Appearance Presets. In the scene where I created my custom look, the hairstyle is saved after I change the shape, length, and styling of the strands. But when I try to load an Appearance Preset with this look into another scene, the default hairstyle downloaded from Hub loads instead, without my edits. The only thing that helps is loading it onto this look again via Hairstyle Presets.

I understand that I probably need to save it as a separate VAR, but I don’t understand how to do that specifically with a hairstyle. I’d really appreciate any tips, and I’d like to figure out how to create a VAR with this hairstyle to upload to Hub and Patreon.

Thanks in advance.

When you build a var in Package Builder, you specify what type of var it is. Scene is the most common, but you can also have vars that are presets for hair or clothes, among others. You could also repackage the modified version of the hair as a standalone var, providing the license permits that.

Thank you very much for your answer, but are there any instructions on how to do this?

Actually, I misspoke. Package Builder doesn't have a space to specify what type of var it is. You just put stuff in there and title it appropriately. The choice is when you post it to the hub. Then, you do have to specify what the heck it is. As for packaging, there are some tuts and vids available.
