Hey everyone.

I started using VAM quite a while ago and had no idea what I was doing.

That being said I've made characters that I really like and I wanted to transfer the characters from the bloated vam to the clean vam.

How do I find out the dependencies for the characters? I wanted to use autogetdependencies and make different scenes for each character with all of the dependencies each requires.

The problem with this is I don't know how to make a meta.json file that automatically identifies all dependencies and I use a lot of morphs, textures and plugins for each of my characters so I can't do it manually as I've no idea as to most of what dependencies I'm using.

So what should I do?

Make an appearance preset for each custom character. You may already have these. Package each one as a separate var. When you go through Package Builder, it will flag any local resources the var needs. Always click to include those. Copy your new vars into the clean Vam, and run the scan for missing packages. You can just click Download All, or figure out which ones use out of date assets, and update them. Now your clean Vam isn't so clean, but it's still less bloated.

Hi! You might want to check out VPM —it makes managing vars super easy and intuitive. With just a few clicks, you can export the package names of your dependencies, copy entire vars, or download missing ones from the hub

Just remember when you reinstall vam you wont have your creator key anymore, I tried this yesterday and it installed the free version, so I just went and deleted scenes and looks I no longer care for to free up some memory, if I need something I'll just download it again.
