Question VR Headset "Full Screen" ?

Hi all! I've been a desktop user for a few years and just started trying to use a new Quest headset. I've been trying to follow guides but I feel like I am missing some steps.

I have installed Virtual Desktop and the Occulus app on my PC. I can get into VD in the headset. When I load VAM, I just get it in a window, not "full screen" for full immersion the way I get if I watch a VR video. I can try to manipulate the VD window to move it around, but it is very difficult to use for me, so far. I also don't seem to be interacting with VAM, ie: things like headtracking.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but I haven't seen much to address this issue in guides, FAQ, or a search.

Thanks for any insights.

One note: I installed Steam VR, hadn't realized I might need that. I tried a scene and it did have headtracking now, but was stuck in Passthrough even though the scene didn't seem to be made for that. Progress?

You can try making a batch file with the following:

"[Insert VirtualDesktop.Streamer.exe file patch here]" "Insert VaM.exe file path here"

so for example: "C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\VirtualDesktop.Streamer.exe" "C:\Virt-A-Mate\VaM.exe"

If you don't know how to make a batch file, just make a notepad file with the above line copied in, then save it to your desktop. Rename the file extension to .bat - so a file name like VAM.bat

Once you've done that, open virtual desktop and connect via your headset. From your headset, click on the batch file and it should open VAM in VR. That works for me anyway.

Hi! I did that and it certainly helped. I do seem to have VR working now with things like headtracking. However, now all scenes I load are in Passthrough, even if I don't want them to be. Not sure what I did to cause that.

Thanks for the reply!

Glad to hear it worked. For passthrough, that will be in your virtual desktop settings in your headset so check there for it.

Got it thanks. Is there a particular setting I should look to turn off so it doesn’t ‘force’ pass through?
