When did you try to install vamX? The UI has many tabs, even the first version had 9 tabs. I'm wondering if you were using a different plugin and not vamX? If it was vamX, the most common installation errors are to extract the .var package, instead of just placing it in the AddonPackages folder, to not enable plugins, or to be using an old version of virt-a-mate. Can I remove VamX from a scene (added via "Add VamX" button), and if so how please?

Not fully, but if you go to the _vamX Plugin atom -> Plugins tab and open the _CHOOSE_VAMX_FEATURES Custom UI... area there are a couple of ways you can try to automatically remove vamX and all of the Atoms that are created when vamX is added.
