VaM 1.x Suggestion - could we not use 'CP' as an acronym for 'CyberPunk'? Because.. um...

I know that a lot of content creators aren't native English speakers, so as a bit of a PSA, it's an acronym for something else quite horrible that we don't want associated with the hub.

I think the context is always important. We shouldn't leave a few letters because some criminals use them. Companys not renaming because their shortcuts means something different.
There are a lot meanings for cp. For example command post from Star Wars battlefront or character points in other games

As a Cyperpunk fan, I never used cp for cyberpunk. Even when I don't knew the meaning of cp. I'm using cp2077 for the game or just cyperpunk (I mean the word alone sounds too cool to shorten it).

Not to compare but "cs" has also different meanings and now it's most used for Counter Strike. Both is legal but that's how some words can regulate the meanings over time. If i hear cs i'm associating it with Counter Strike and not Cybersex.

Not an english speaker and I can't say how much this is used, tbh. If someone just write cp it could be automatically changed into cyberpunk by the forum?

Even further than that, we're in a multi-lingual community, someone's acronym in a specific language is always the wrong/appropriate/funny/stupid acronym of another.
Context matters, if you're in a thread talking about cyberpunk stuffs, CP is contextualized to that thread/discussion.

Let's not create drama where there is none.

Na, i don't see it as drama just a discussion. And yeah there are sometimes words with funny meanings in other languages, I never thought about. 🤣

In Korea, I was told not to ask for "Ibuprofen" by that name, because that word has a completely different meaning there. 🧐
