Can I use buttons with Vamoverlays together with Timeline?

I’ve set up Timeline and Vamoverlay to fade in and out between segments. Works correctly when animations are played using the sequence settings in Timeline.

I have several UI buttons, which also work correctly, triggering Timeline to play the animations. However, Vamoverlay doesn’t activate when pressing the buttons. The atoms fly across the scene and Timeline plays, all without fading.

I’ve tried different button-trigger combinations to no aval.

Here’s how their currently set: First one “Start Fade Out” (Vamoverlay). 2nd, “Stop and Reset” (Timeline). 3rd, “Play - name of animation” (Timeline). 4th, “Start Fade in” (Vamoverlay).

Any advice?

I’ve studied several scenes and scoured the hub for answers, but it’s a tricky question. Things I’ve tried: Deselected Vamoverlays transition in Timeline to allow the buttons to control it. Unlinked sequences between animations to allow the buttons to control it. Enabled both, which works as advertised, except while using buttons.

I’d like to control the flow of the scene, hence the buttons. Is there a better way to incorporate Vamoverlays, or its idea… to fade while Timeline switches animations?

Solution to my question above: Yes to buttons.... First trigger - Fade Out Instant (Not Start Fade Out). Last trigger has no change from above, Start Fade In. This switch to Instant Out fixed it. Now, the buttons work as expected.
