Hmmmmm I'm not 100% sure what you're asking here. If you're trying to get the staff to collide with your character and it isn't, it's likely either the staff doesn't have collision on the object itself (which I'm not versed in, so I can't provide any good info; sorry), or your character's collision doesn't match their appearance well. The second option is unlikely, but if you haven't used AcidBubbles ColliderEditor plugin, you should really give that a shot. It lets you customize all of the character's colliders to very well fit their body.
As a side note, the "Physics" checkbox just means that other things colliding with it will make it move. Once that's enabled, you can tweak a bunch of the variables on the Physics Control tab to change how it reacts, how easy it is to move, how quickly it springs back to its position, etc.
