I just downloaded VaM a few minutes ago for the first time ever and have a dumb question that I am confused about. Do you need a teaser or higher key to download and view scenes from here? Google says you don't but I followed tutorials on how to add scenes to the library but they wont show up. I download the .var file as well as the dependencies and add the .var files to the addonpackages folder. restart or open VaM but the scene I downloaded isn't in the scene browser.

Check out the tutorials made by AshAuryn:
https://hub.virtamate.com/wiki/basics_contents/ starter tuts. First three items are essential for basic scene browsing.
https://hub.virtamate.com/wiki/getting_started/ description of the tiers and what they allow you to do.

Edit: Btw are you sure the content you downloaded is a scene? Otherwise it won't show up in the center menu. Looks, clothes, plugins and other resources might or might not show up there, depends on how the creator packaged the resource.

Well I used chatgpt to help me trouble shoot and it told me it was a subscene and how I should load theme but I believe I need teaser key to use the functions for that. I am very new to VaM and to be honest vr in general so scenes and subscenes I know what the difference is but telling which is which is another story.

Actually out of sheer coincidence the scene or subscene I was trying to figure out was one of yours the Valerie: Intimate Frontseat Dock

Damn!! The chances 😁

Yeah, so:
First, to open it you indeed need the teaser tier at minimum because the free tier doesn't allow you to open any scene that isn't the demos. But honestly if you happen to like VAM and plan to use it long-term, I'd suggest you pay for the creator because it's not an absurd amount of money compared to teaser, and then you can do all sorts of customized stuff for yourself.
Second, in this case it is a scene. A subscene is when you want to save "part" of a scene and then load this into another scene, for example the UI, lighting setup, basic mechanics, etc. It's mostly useful for creators because it automatizes stuff so you don't have to create things from scratch (to a degree).

Hope you get to play it and share what you liked (or didn't)!

Thank you very much for the help and the information! Im having trouble with my patreon account and am waiting with a help ticket for some trouble shooting but once that is done I'll just get creator its only 8 bucks. I'll at least give it a try. but thank you very much again chatgpt was giving me every answer but the right one.

The best part about that creator license is that you really only need to subscribe for one month. Your creator key will be good forever on that release of Vam. Since all current development is on Vam2, it's not likely there will be another major release of Vam1 that requires a new license. This is what you call a not-so-secret secret. I pay the subscription, because I want to fund development, but it's your choice.
