Help please: scenes not loading

Help please! I'm non-technical (too dim to run the updater.exe recommended here. Bat files???).
VAM worked great but now all saved VAMX scenes hang on loading (usually with an "atom force_spanking" or VAMX_logo) error as do any when I try to add VAMX. Do I have to delete and reinstall?

If you can click to open VaM you can click on the file vam_updater.exe that is on the same folder.
In it go to the bottom right button and do a core check to see if you're not missing anything essential.

If all good, start VaM and try clearing your cache (user preferences). Try first one a simple VaM scene, not vamX. If it loads fine try a vamX scene. If you're stuck loading a vamX scene you should contact the vamX team about it on Discord or wherever they do support for their content.
