Question Having trouble using downloaded assets on Creator version.

Brand new here and I'm having trouble utilizing files after downloading, some seem to work and some dont. I have downloaded some .var files and all the tutorials I've rad dont have those included. I downloaded a female hairstyles pack which is also a .var I read on reddit that all .var files go into the AddonPackages folder but that did not make the hairstyles available in the hairstyles section.

I'm pretty lost and all the info I keep finding appears to be out of date. Please let me know if i'm missing something.

Agree, you should find these specific hair in the hair present tab after selected the person.

Var can be almost everything... you will find them in clothes, hair, generat or appearance preset, also as scene or look or pose... some other need CUA (custom unity asset) to be used in your scene...
Not always easy to find but your stuff is somewhere
