Tried many variations, including vsync on/off, 60Hz through to 120hz within VAM and also Desktop.

Best results with minimal stuttering I got was to set the desktop to 60 Hz and setting the VSync to on at 75hz within VAM.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

A stutter in recording is not first and foremost tied to the performances (of the game itself).
There are all sorts of reasons it could happen:
  • Overall power of the setup ( CPU/RAM )
  • Speed of the storage
  • Stability of the system
If you're planning on making advanced videos, with editing and whatnot, consider offline rendering.

Yeah, I figured the same. i just can't seem to figure out the bottleneck with scenes of an average FPS of 50-60 fps.

You could have something demanding on the HDD/SSD which prevents the recorder to write fast enough maybe?
